A while back here was a thread called Coffee W*ankers in which I confessed to using a coffee bean grinder. Freshly ground beans really do make a difference to a cup of coffee.

I’ve got a plastic pot for cooking rice in the microwave. Rice in, water in - about 50% more by volume than the rice, so three cups of water for two of rice, then bung it in for about 13 minutes. Completely reliable, stick it in the dishwasher afterwards.

Not a gadget, but I bought a kilo bag of MSG off Amazon four years ago for under £4 and still have half left. Makes gravy and pasta sauce so much tastier, and I felt like Pablo Escobar when I got it out of the envelope.

My Nespresso machine. Absolutely shyte in terms of durability, on our fourth in four years, the last one lasted 5 months, but very convenient.

You know you can buy those little toasting bags that go in the toaster, much easier.

I do enjoy the taste of Nespresso coffee, but the amount of coffee I get through it would cost be an absolute fortune in coffee pods.

I'm with DMM, coffee grinder and filter coffee machine with a timer set for the morning. When I wake up in the morning and a do a quick inventory on whether life is worth getting out of bed for, a fresh coffee waiting downstairs is the only thing.

Vax wet & dry vacuum cleaner.

I use it suck up all the leaves and sycamore seeds that land on my patio and/or make their way into the ACO drains that surround the back of my house.

Last winter, for the first time in 7 years, I didn't find myself outside in pitch darkness on my hands and knees in the pouring rain trying to unblock the drains.

I’ve always associated the ‘ping’ noise with the sound of hamstrings exploding, a not infrequent occurrence in our neck of the woods sadly.
