Please delete if this has already been discussed.

What is it with us having all 11 players back in the box for every corner?

It invites the oppo to bring forward as many as they like and have a good few right outside our box.

Surely you put the rapid Burrell up on the half way line to keep two defenders busy and a great quick out ball if needed.

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

It's part of the DNA of QPR, like conceding straight after half time.

Agreed. Boils my piss when I see us defending with 11 men .
Especially when the Snow whites mates are prevalent among the defenders.

We might as well have 11 back for our corners.

I remember when our crowd would roar “cooorrrnnnaaahh” when we won one.
They don't now.

Back in the days of Matt Smith (big one)

Those last 5 mins, getting a corner felt like a penalty.

Hull had 11 back at 3-2. Not many teams leave anyone up because someone has decided the xG for the other team is higher when you do.

I’d have thought logically the goalkeeper’s job is easier with at least three fewer players around and when you’ve got Smyth/Saito/Dembele on the pitch especially it’s not like they’re going to offer loads defensively but what do I know?

Not leaving Burrell up (or Dembele, who is surely offering next to nothing defending a corner) is such a seemingly obvious tactical oversight that you have to assume there is actually a sound reason not to do it - but I'd dearly love to know what it is.

There will undoubtedly be some stat showing that 11 players defending corners concede fewer goals than having 10 or 9 players back. Most teams seem to do it. Perhaps it's time for a brave manager to innovate and do something different.

Wonder if such a stat existed whether it includes second balls, such as our second goal on Saturday. This is an issue that boils my pîss. Keep two fast players on the half way line, defo the shorter players like Saito or Dembele, the opposition would invariable then keep three back instead of one. And in all likeliness will be defenders who tend to be taller than other players. That’s four players less for a keeper to contend with which means he has more chance of either catching or punching the ball clear, and with the players left upfield less chance of the ball being recycled.

I’d leave two players up at the half way line, one on each wing to make defending tricky. Two defenders back marking them would still leave one on one situations, even if they leave a third back in the middle

Choose the players least useful when defending corners. Might not include Burrell but you could still be choosing from Dembele, Smyth, Nardi and Saito…

It use to be BOS that was left up when we had a corner against us. And if I recall correctly, on 2 seperate occassions we've scored from it.

Once on NYD in the 6-1 thrashing of Cardiff. Lumley with a take from a free kick and then a brilliant first time ball to set BOS away who finished brilliantly. And I'm sure we scored one up at Preston in a 3-1 win (think it was the game where Cameron was sent off?) when BOS was set free by the keeper from a corner/free kick, who then supplied EZE to bend one in.

Think BOS also banged one in v Luton at home when he was left up top alone and the ball was cleared long.

BOS was used for this tactic a lot.

So in my mind, this is perfect for someone like Dembele... or Buzz.

There might well be, but only 3% of corners end in a goal so the marginal difference of leaving a player or two up would be tiny, and then need to be balanced against the potential of scoring on the break.

It’s so that when we give 10yrds back at every throw it we don’t put opposition out

On the subject of throw-ins, something that's been boiling my piss of late is a serial refusal to contest them. We conceded against Ipswich as a direct result and we're still doing it.
