Sounds like Nourry's men want to go in a different direction?

A real shame.

Look forward to being told what a shrewd and smart move this is.

'And it has now been decided that Furlong will move on'

Doesn't sound mutual does it? Risky bearing in mind the trophies we won and tournaments we've been in.

Also, despite what everyone says, he's produced more from the YTS / DS than any other coach since the 1980s. Wasn't there a 15 year gap or between youth teamers making their debut before he came along or something?

Good luck Furs. Idol of my QPR youth.

Only one person in the management structure would have had the authority to make the decision and sign off on it: The CEO.

Looks like another young, data driven acolyte going in behind him…

I expect the usual AI written press release is already being prepred by goldenballs and his varous minions ! cant wait to see the spin angle they use to justify it .

im guessing this is one of the latest options on this years FM , get rid of a succesful dev coach whos done pretty much all thats been asked of him since he arrived

Yeah...Not exactly the best look to do this to someone who has given so many years of unstinting service, especially given that he's had some clearly definable success.

I sincerely hope they're giving him a nice fat payoff at the very least.

So what new direction can the club go in? And seems odd to do it mid season? And we have a Methodology Manager U17 to U21, who reports into the Head of Methodolgy?

Gizza job.

For clarity, the methodology department reports through De Souza into Nourry, not via Ben Williams, as I understand it.

Even if, somehow it was a Williams call, the CEO would have to sign off on it. He’s not a hands of type of bloke either…

I find this very sad & suspect that many supporters won't be happy with this turn of events.

I'm sure the explanation will make asll clear!

I think it’s all about factions within the club and power.

Furlong, who was here well before the current administration, albeit in a more junior role, was hired into the club by others.

Various people have questioned what on earth De Souza is doing now the Stephan has ditched the game model.

Now we see a Methodology Manager seemingly taking ownership of Furs’ remit, reporting into De Souza.

So another data driven acolyte in a key role. All flowing up to and owing their job to one man.

The staffing of QPR is purposefully opaque. Nobody is listed really on the website.

https://www.qpr.co.uk/club/staff-directory

Keep the fans, the real stakeholders in the dark. The individual age group coaches are there, otherwise keep schtum.

You have to rely on West London Sport to find out that Anthony Hayes is "methodology manager, focusing on the Under-17 to Under-21 age groups." I imagine Scott Marshall will just slide back into his old role unannounced again, having skipped out to Reading a few months ago. Keep that churn of coaches working between Brentford, Charlton, Reading going.

Meanwhile, a loyal QPR servant who has progressed successfully through the age groups gets pushed out. (Is Impey still there? He's not listed). Pathway should also exist for coaches: Hyde had to leave for Watford to move up; now Furlong. I genuinely would've liked to see him take the first team next. Hope he does very well elsewhere.

That's my thinking.

It's very much in keeping with what appears to the style of the current management - anyone who isn't one of their people is deemed to be a threat and to be purged.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

I agree. That's the phrase that sticks out for me too.

Agree with the rest of your post too. Best of luck to Furs, and thanks for everything.

Very sorry to see him go as he will be a huge loss to the Club. Not just as a coach, but the professional way he conducts himself is a great example for our players at all levels. Like others, I suspect office politics played a big part in this decision.

I wish him all the very best for the future.

Absolutely frightening to me that the members and supporters of our club have to find out from a newspaper about the departure of a respected and long-serving member of staff.

Where's the article wishing him well?
Where's the biographical piece on the website praising him for his contributions and achievements off and on the field?
Where's the basic human decency?

Does this mean there are funds available for an assistant to the regional head of methodology?
