New stadium for London 18:19 - Dec 2 with 3411 viewsKensalT

Unfortunately not us.

Leyton Orient are partnering with their local authority to deliver a new stadium in time for their 150th anniversary in 2031:

They also have Populous who designed Wembley and the new Spurs stadium on board:

I would rather watch Rangers at Loftus Road in Division 1 or 2, than somewhere in Royal Oak in the Prem. Long live our cave.

Yes but, how long can we continue losing £1.3 million a month? Ruben seems to be a very generous owner but realistically he won't be around for ever. I don't know what the answer is but the future of our club needs to be safeguarded.

Almost everyone is making losses regardless of stadium situation:

It seems like every football club in London gets permission/money to build/take over a new ground apart from us. It's getting to a point where I'd be considering suing H & F Council for restraint of trade.

apart from the stupid car giant idea and use being linkned to linford christie what else have we been linked with ? we had three chances and decided not to take advantage of any of them , thats down to the club nobody else . Dairy crest brownfield site perfect in every way you can imagine , we didnt want it , cost 108 million with a lof ot money being got back from building around it . down to the club well TF more than anyone as he wanted the cargiant site for nothing so left the rest of the options to developers .

Everyone is losing money. Look at our nearest rivals, two clubs held up as models for ground redevelopment and/or building on this thread.

Fulham announced losses of £33 million last accounts (and if you want a season ticket in the redeveloped Riverside Stand, cheapest is £1250, rising to £3k: plenty still available.)

Brentford, despite all their player trading, still lost over £7 million in their nice new Lego stadium with a smaller capacity than LR.

Chelsea announced big profits because they moved money around to avoid charges, but their parent company had losses of £2 billion (!).

QPR in terms of revenue are 15th in the division, which is where we ended up in the league last season. It won't be matchday revenue that improves our revenue, it'll be player sales (and broadcasting eventually) - just as it is for Brentford. Developing players takes massive precedence over developing the ground for the club (though we will redevelop LR: just because it's not announced doesn't mean it isn't happening).

Whilst what you are saying is true, its not how Lee Hoos saw it when he was CEO. Every pound coming in was vital and expenditure was to be avoided or reduced if possible.

Only in football, you can make a loss every year and still be a going concern.

Someone or some corporate body has to cover those losses, to some extent, otherwise......see Bury, Sheffield Wednesday etc.etc.

Show me the new ground which is the financial saviour of a club - other than West Ham's, a ground subsidised by the tax payer. Sheffield Wednesday has a ground capacity of 39k...was not a silver bullet.

I don't disagree and I don't really want to move. However, our stadium is poorly maintained, high cost and, so far, no one has resolved how to substantially improve it.

I think the only London clubs that appear 'stuck' are us and Chelsea

Arsenal - New stadium in last 20 years
Spurs - New stadium
W. Ham - New stadium (although it's awful)
Fulham - Huge redevelopment
Brentford - New stadium
Chelsea - Desperate to move as they can't expand
Palace - Approved plans for redevelopment
Millwall - Stadium is about 30 years old. No idea what they have planned
Charlton - Decent sized stadium which they periodically update
QPR - Cramped, atmospheric stadium that is falling down
Wimbledon - New stadium
Orient - Getting a new stadium
Barnet - New stadium and plans afoot to move back to Barnet and build there
Bromley - Stadium renovated less than a decade ago

Still convinced the answer is to knock it down stand by stand and build a smaller, but better functioning stadium. If it seated 15k but had better facilities it would likely make more money

Chelsea have had a lot done to their stadium in the last 30 years. I remember their dog track, the benches, the Shed etc! We have had diddly squat!

Are we actually doing it, redeveloping LR and not announcing it to the fans?

Someone needs to know to help out, I have my shovel ready - to dig down, just need to find my bob the builder attire and I am all set

Poll: 2025/26 Ins & Outs - These are all welcomed but which one takes the cake?

We are forgetting that a certain few that were in the know were saying an announcement about redeveloping South Africa road was big news earlier this season and was going to be an announced anytime soon I seem to remember ,it’s around the time nourry was getting some fairly heavy stick for the mismanaged way of getting rid of our previous coach .
