Kind of amusing at the end (must be the Irish in me) to see them hanging on for dear life after the penalty. If there was longer to go I reckon Uruguay would have scored again. I kind of admire Maguire’s attitude. He doesn’t give a damn if he is first choice or third choice, a meaningless friendly or the World Cup Final, the first minute or the last minute, he just gets stuck in regardless.

Are you talking about the penalty he/VAR gave to Uruguay or his horrible performance allowing that butchery to go unchecked .If VAR gave that penalty (Ireland got a softer one last night btw) then why was that not a red card for the challenge on Foden not sure he even got yellow.
Once that Uruguay guy got carried off they kicked the crap out of England and for a stupid friendly with 6 critical months ahead that needed to be a way better job from that Ref.

I'm not one to moan about VAR, but last night was a joke. Isn't the point of VAR to step in and correct clear and obvious errors? One error being the awarding of 2 yellows and forgetting the red!!?

As for England, pointless game. Last chance for some fringe players to stake a claim. We learnt that Livramento is the back up RB, Maguire still does a job, Palmer over Foden, neither of those two strikers are good enough.

I thought organising a pre World Cup friendly against such a notoriously physical and cynical team as Uruguay was pretty brain dead on the FA’s part. We were fortunate enough to come out of it without any serious injuries.
We need to wrap Kane in cotton wool as far as possible between now and June because without him we’ve got nothing up front at all. I’d actually go for Welbeck rather than the players he’s trying at the moment.

Sadly, Danny, the pitch is not having a weekend off. There is a cup final between Plymouth women and Bournemouth women being played at Loftus Road. Perhaps they will be a little lighter on their feet than our lads, though?

Some of the players out there last night shouldn’t be anywhere near the England squad and hopefully after such abject performances Tuchel will finalise his squad without them. Foden, Solanke, Henderson, Calvert-Lewin and Spence spring to mind, Madueke is surely just an impact sub, Rashford and Maguire past their prime as well.

So famous the venue is given as ‘Lotus’ Road on the BBC Sport website.
