Sorry to be repetitious, but another presenter gone. Not proven guilty or anything but how can an organisation that was revered worldwide have a record like this ? I hope the new bloke can “sor' i' aht”

No messing about this time. The guy's gone, instead of BBC prevarication. Lessons learnt from Huw Edwards and Gregg Wallace?

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." Its been rushed through as its the last parting shot of the current bbc director general....

Even if whatever he has done, and has been dealt with promptly still a PR move by a departing Director General. Ie are we to believe the timing of the announcement is coincidental.

It was historical issues apparently from over a decade ago, so hardly dealt with promptly....

** It's since been revealed that the BBC’s decision to sack Scott Mills relates to a 2016 police investigation into “serious sexual offences” against a teenage boy. Mills was questioned by police under caution but the case was dropped because of a lack of evidence. However the Mirror understands the sacking relates to this individual.**

*Mills earns between £355,000 and £359,999 annually for his work at the BBC, according to the 2024–2025 pay report.*

My licence fee of £174.50s Is money well spent then.

Jesus fcking wept. £359,999 annually

Apparently it is closer to half a million since he started doing the breakfast show.

Say what you like about the Smashy and Nicey generation of Radio 1 DJs, but at least they had identifiable (if often toxic) personalities. The likes of Mills just seem super bland...yet still predatory allegedly.

Dark Humour warning............

Why has the Beeb, in their news report, used a picture of him at a control desk with his hands on those twiddly things on the control desk, you know, damn, what are they called?

I can only think that Mills may have not disclosed the investigation to the BBC and that the sacking is in relation to some breach of employment conditions otherwise it seems the presumption of innocence is a thing of the past. Is it just possible that the BBC have over reacted here because of Saville and Edwards?

I suspect that this might be a ‘Whoosh’ moment for me, but in radio they are called faders.

I am guessing you know them as something else.

I was thinking of a more generic name as opposed to their function but so as to not be cryptic, the word was Knobs!

Not my mind, the BBC had a whole range of images they could have used but to show him fiddling with controls may be an attempt at inside humour or purely coincidental

But you are right in that his career may be fading

That's a good point, I was thinking it was a bit strange as surely it's innocent until proven guilty, and they are possibly in line for a massive lawsuit if it isn't proven. So that could explain it!
