With the boxes in and all 4 stands redeveloped, with terraces in the paddocks and the lower Loft and School End Lower, it was 27k. This was reached quite regularly in the 80’s. I think there were quite a few extra for that infamous cup tie against West Ham. In the end there were people sitting round the edge of the pitch!!

I was in The Loft down at the front of the terrace and when we scored I was the only one going nuts. Quite a few a ‘them’ everywhere that night.

That Spurs game was unreal for overcrowding. I started in the paddock near The Loft and after getting forced onto the pitch due to a surge of latecomers, ended up watching the whole game standing on the stairs between the lower and upper tiers of the away end. Definitely loads bunked in that day as I am sure the crowd was well over 30K

Our club record home attendance was 41,097 at the FA Cup third-round tie against Leeds United on January 9th 1932 at White City Stadium in Wood Lane. We won 3-1! I know, unbelievable! We won a 3rd round game in the FA Cup.

Enjoyed re-watching this and like others the replay at the falling down Bridge. First time I remember a really huge Rs following in the North Stand.
One interesting thing from watching the home game is how effective Fenwick , very much a back does in midfield. The role a lot of posters suggest would suit Ronnie E.

Not sure it was reached regularly apart from the very big games. There were times in the 80s when we couldn’t get 10,000 .

With the building of the Ellerslie Road stand the capacity was stated at 37,000 and dropped down to 32,000 when seating was installed on the lower of the SAR stand. With the building of the School End and Loftus Road stands it was further reduced to 28,000. The Taylor Report had the effect of reducing the capacity to around 19,000. So effectively we have seen a 50% reduction in capacity over the last 50 years or so.
