Limerick still the benchmark, I think. In patches in the League Final and again today they were at their boringly efficient best. Dull, but efficient.
They'd most likely have won today if it wasn't for Lynch's petulance. Their violence is catching up with them these last few years, refs finally calling them on it. But they remain the benchmark when they're on top form. |

Excellent post there Brian nobody is happier than me that Cork took them down today and Clare can knock them out of Munster at least next Sunday if they dont keep giving up goals for fun (see Waterford last Sunday).

That half-back line worries me, and our decision to go to Newtown hurling is understandable, might even be wise, but it's a work in progress, and it's not as if we've a history of winning anything. 21 years and counting. |  |

Delighted for Roscommon, but had to keep my pleasure muted as my wife is a Galway woman - albeit more of a hurling woman. Working in Ballagh so should be good craic at school tomorrow. The banter after they beat Mayo (half the teachers and kids from Mayo) was mighty. Won’t be that element tomorrow, but should still be a lively atmosphere. As I said to my wife anyone that beats both Mayo and Galway deserves the title, and even she couldn’t argue with that. | | | |

Conditions more or less guaranteed that this would be a free-strewn game, but both teams embraced it with zeal.
It was a dirge with blatant fouling followed all too frequently by histrionics and amateur theatrics directed towards the ref that not so long ago GAA heads mocked soccer fans for.
Add in the continual conning of the referee (described as clever by the commentators, but never described as cheating) and the now-accepted whistling and booing of the free-takers from the crowd, and it was a depressing day down the Páirc.
I couldn't care less about losing a match, but we're losing our game. | |

My nephew played from them last year when they won the Nicky Rackard. He is in the States for the summer this year. Big step up for them |
Nicky Rackard was a name my Dad used to talk about. He had followed Wexford Hurlers all over the country when Nicky and his two brothers were in the team. Nicky was the full forward in the team from 1940 to 1957, finally winning All Irelands in 1955 and 1956. He still holds the All time Championship scoring record of 59 goals and as well as a host of other hurling titles, he also won a Leinster Senior Football Cup.

I was seriously impressed with Meath last night, though I only watched it on the telly.
Cork and Meath have had some serious battles over the last few years, and only ever a kick of the ball between us. But..there was a lovely madness to how ye beat Derry last night, I thought anyway. Ye're obviously excellent on kick-outs and base yeer game around that, but last night the support play was wild. It was a big change. Maybe even a conscious decision. We go when we go. And my God ye went in numbers.
Nearly every score was facing the posts, rather than recycled second or third phase.
Hugely entertaining, and effective, I thought. | |

The commentators were also very disingenuous to Westmeath too, saying they would be a ‘handy’ game for any of the ‘big’ county’s. For this reason I am delighted Donegal lost.
