I remember leaving for the game and making sure the video was running etc....that was very quickly taped over. I found a pic the other day of my late Dad outside our house dressed for the game - huge QPR rosette, quality QPR Wembley '86 t shirt, enormous slacks....first time I have smiled over that game since. | | | |

Got so bad later on in the game even the Shepherds Bush QPR and the Notting Hill QPR started fighting each other, I was not far from it.
My dad said "Where are all these cnts on a Saturday" in reference to normal LR attendances, not the guys fighting.
Got home and thought "oh well, we'll be back again soon". We weren't.
I've heard the pill theory too though what I heard it was on the day itself and they weren't sleeping pills but just mild sedatives to calm the nerves and they were told to take a couple to not hinder performance but gobbled far more down!
No idea if any of it is true or not but it was certainly a very under-par performance whatever the reasons. Oxford were good, lets not take away that from them, but they weren't Barcelona ffs and it pee'd me right off we just let them steam roller us.

I was there, aged 16 - my forum name is due to my love of the 1983 promotion season. I didn't really think it through.
We walked from Loftus Road to Wembley and couldn't believe how badly we played and how we made Oxford look like Brazil 1970 in comparison. We tried to console ourselves by making w*nker signs at the coachloads of Oxford fans after the match and shouting "going down", but they didn't even do that.
My worst experience as a QPR fan. Not even the Vauxhall Motors replay runs it close. |  |

I went to every game of that cup run, becoming increasingly convinced we'd win it.
However, I stayed with a mate after the game at Anfield and returned to London on the Thursday afternoon. Upon doing so, I instinctively felt the need to avoid gloating with mates and boast that we'd win it.
Sounds odd to say it, but losing wasn't a surprise to me, but yet, I was utterly shell-shocked at the end. I left Wembley in a total daze, only coming out of my funk when I walked up to a cousin sat at a bus stop by Barham Park staring blankly over at the park.
Sat next to him and when I mentioned it to him years later, he had no recollection of being sat there or me sitting down beside him. | |

I remember getting off the train at Victoria station and seeing the Concourse full of Rangers everywhere!! Off to L.R. for the walk to Wembley and then that dismal display. If I remember rightly, they played five across midfield. The fight broke out just to the right of us and seeing some bloke get stabbed. I’ve never watched the match again I can’t bring myself.
Funny enough the match came up last week as a suggestion on YouTube. My grandson was really surprised and said wow look at that Rangers at Wembley. I just said, ‘yeah I was there‘ and left it at that. |  | | |
