Southend v Wealdstone 19:58 - May 17 with 1366 viewsSnipper

Just on my way back after watching the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

Southend won on penalties after a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. No extra time played, which was weird. Somebody told me that the teams are offered a chance to go straight to penalties, and if one of the teams wants that, then that’s what happens. Wealdstone opted for extra time, but Southend opted for penalties.
Whether that’s true is anybody’s guess.

Anyway, Wealdstone were unlucky not to win it in the 90 minutes. Healthy crowd too. Over 45,000 there.

Lots of former Rs on show today.

For Wealdstone we had Mr Waddock of course and then Sean Adarkwa and Deon Woodman from our DS a few years back.

Southend had Charlie Kendall and Joe Gubbins.

It was quite a good game, just a shame that fitness levels really impacted the quality after 65 minutes. I thought Southend just about deserved it.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

I went to that today and tend to agree with you Snipper that Stones could have won that within normal time. There was just a little lack of quality à the crucial moments in front of goal. Shame, but that’s football sometimes. Nice to see a good turnout for Wealdstone today.
