The bottom line is that, should West Ham drop to the Championship, there is a clause in their lease which means they only pay about half of their current rent to the Greater London Authority.

This may well end up costing Londoners £2.5m in tax to cover the shortfall and the stewarding costs etc.

I mean, fair do's to WH for negotiating that particular deal but it feels a bit one-sided, if you ask me.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Got to give it to Brady for negotiating this one. They should have to use their parachute payments to make up the shortfall.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

If they can’t pay the full rent they should leave the stadium whoever agreed they could have it for half rent should be sacked. Cant see its should fall on London residents to pick up the defecit. They could ground share with Leyton Orient?

Ground share with Tierra del Fuego.

I don't a £2.5m rent reduction is going to save West Ham from financially imploding if relegated.

As much as it'd be hilarious if Spurs went down, I hate West Ham a lot too. I hope they do implode.

It's probably less than they are paying Bowen per year...

this deal over london stadium is a burden to tax payers WHO ALREADY PAID FOR THE DUMP IN THE 1ST PLACE!!
and over a decade on does not help and the onus should be on west ham to accept cost and adapt stadium, if it is needed for athletics etc or move out!

So West Ham are renters and they don’t own their own ground?

I'd like Hammers to be relegated tonight and Arse crowned Champs.

I like the idea of Sky being forced to get excited about the Battle for 8th ot whatever it is on Sunday.... Can't see there'd be many opportunities to capture a grown man grizzling about missing out on Euro Conference though. Will be annoying if 1st AND relegation are still up for grabs on Super Sunday. Much better if the fates of Arsenal and West Ham are sealed on a Tuesday night without them even playing.

Christ on a bike is there no end to the stupidity of this arrangement?

I remember during our few years in the PL just over a decade ago 'ammers fans giving it the "we need to move", "the Boleyn is too small for us", "we're massive innit", "we won the world cup"', and all that hullabaloo.

Be careful what you wish for......

They are tenants and are getting hand-outs, and are able to negotiate a massive rent discount upon relegation? How did it come to that?

I hoped they get hammered, crashed and bummed out of the stadium and take Leyton Orient as landlord

I had a love/hate relationship with Upton Park, old fashioned ground similar to say Villa Park, loads of good cafes and a straightish journey on the train.
Not so much now but I used to have a thing about watching us playing away from home, biggest pile of crap was at Anfield, the so called atmosphere was crap (and we lost 1-0).
I've never been to the London Stadium, looks like next season I can cross that off from my list of away grounds where I've been.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Can you imagine the police operation on Sunday if relegation is still up in the air,and the two teams involved are playing just a couple of miles apart from each other?
Add Arsenal fans possibly celebrating winning the title, and Leeds,Everton and Newcastle fans all in town too.

Feels to me West Ham had them over a barrel as the Olympic legacy people were desperate to avoid a white elephant so pretty much agreed to anything, as it's better than nothing.

Nice it's come down to the last game, but inevitably Spurs will get the result they need.

Of course it will be hilarious if they don't.

Tottenham & Everton seem to get better results away from home & Moyes did win a European Trophy as West Ham manager.

I still expect Tottenham to stay up though!
