New football rules for the world cup 17:02 - May 26 with 4949 viewsdmm

He's a referee and seems positive about these changes, saying they'll provide '...more football for the fans.' I'm not at all sure, as VAR seems to be given an expanded role.

I'm not clear whether or not these new rules will apply to the new PL and EFL season.

All well and good regarding the time wasting if the officials actually enforce which I doubt they will especially on thow ins

I like the rule about diving players being forced to play in speedos.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Not sure why pretend goalkeeper injuries still aren’t considered worthy of intervention. Drag ‘em off the pitch and stick the left back in goal while they’re being ‘treated’, I say.

Really hoping we don’t get Madonna & Co at HT in the final, too.

Another player should have to leave the pitch for 30 seconds if the keeper is treated for an injury.
While were playing in North America the sides of the pitch should be marked in 5 yard sections and if you take a throw in from a different 5 yard section it automatically goes to the other side to take it.Or get the ref or Lino to mark where the throw should be taken from with their magic spray can.

Lino should mark it; this could be quicker, as they're on that side, and it'll stop the "sneaking 10 yards up the pitch" rubbish.
In one of our games, we did get away with doing a throw-on in the oppo half, yet it went out in our half.

The 8-second rule is working, especially after Hammer got caught out on it.

Also, as Ian Wright said many times, if there was an obvious obstruction or intent to foul to stop a clear attacking move, instead of a yellow card, move the free-kick 10 yards forward. He said that if Refs did that, he would get so much grief from his fellow players that he would have to stop fouling that way, and the manager would probably sub him anyway.

I would also start giving pens for all this shirt pulling in the box. That needs to stop. Var that baby up, and we shall soon see that stop. And if the attacking player does it, then yellow them and move the ball 10 yards forward.

Also, nasty fouls that get a red need to be reviewed afterwards more. Like when Gordon fouled Van Dyke, that sort of foul could be career-ending, and even though he apologised and said it was not malicious, it should still have got him a 5-match ban, not the one he got of only 3. Tough tackling should be like Macca used to do it, and a normal red if it's an elbow in the Hughes nose, but not career-ending. Nasty stamps on shins and calves need a red with a 5-game ban attached. That will soon stop some of these even being attempted once a couple of 5-match bans go out.

zzzzzzzzzz

they want players to adapt to new rules in a few weeks, after years of being trained to waste time, steal yards etc why speed up the game in games that will be played in strong heat? players will just find another way to have a break, feign injury etc
FIFA are tossers, corrupt and it still goes on.
i am not happy with UEFA either, the euro league that upset so many, IS HERE renamed and sold as new but still what they wanted, and fans fell for it.

Yep all set up just to create more media controversy/ragebait because that's the only thing the world runs on these days, apparently.

You can just see England coming a cropper due to a combination of dodgy VAR and one of these new rulings.

IF the referees enforce the new rule then miraculously no keepers will get ‘injured’ ever again (apart from the really rare occasions when they are actually injured)

As I understand it, though, goalkeepers still ‘have the right to be injured’ (whether they really are or not) so there doesn’t seem anything to stop them collapsing in a heap in the time-honoured way in order to disrupt the game’s momentum.

It’s just the ‘tactical timeouts’ that have been outlawed (which will presumably just be transferred to the ‘water breaks’ instead). I guess we’ll soon find out.

I see that Trump reserves the right to invade any country that beats USA in the cup and take their oil. "Paraguay, Australia, and Turkey. Terrible countries. Never liked them. Terrible. I like Turkey sandwiches but apart from that they're terrible people."

Never knowingly right.

I am pretty certain that goalkeepers will still feign injury. The only difference will be that the physio/medics will have to convey the team instructions, which have been given to them by the manager just before the incident.

"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

It'll be guantanamo bay for time wasters.

Its amazing how much a failure VAR has been because on paper it should be hassle free.
