Bit of topic but undoubtably the best guitar solo of all time.
A nice guitar solo features in the Carpenters' Goodbye To Love. For years I thought it was James Burton but was told it was an Italian session player whose name now escapes me.

The session guitarist was Tony Peluso, a member of Mark Lindsay's (of Paul Revere and the Raiders fame) backing band.

The mid-60s were a venue for a fair few classic songs. In the Summertime has already been mentioned. Whiter Shade of Pale was #1 for six weeks in 1967 (natch!) The previous summer saw The Kinks topping the charts for two weeks with Sunny Afternoon. The less said about Chirpy, Chirpy, Cheep, Cheep in 1970 the better!
