| The ultimate World Cup thread 22:40 - Jun 11 with 156589 views | Logman | Think we need a designated thread for general World Cup 2026 chat. There only seem to be the England and sweepstake ones so far. Well that opening game got me nodding off nicely. VAR/the laws of the game the talking points as always. Well done FIFA. Not long before the highlights are just a reel of refereeing/VAR decisions. When does the EFL start ? [Post edited 11 Jun 22:41]

| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

I don’t get it. Full back pulls out with injury Obviously you call up an average centre back who played for you at Chelscum The German isn’t even hiding it anymore
| Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal |

I read the other day that they don’t think saka will be able to complete a full 90 minutes This squad is the most injury prone squad I’ve ever seen Stones hasn’t played for months either

Proper game of football. Be interesting to see how Senegal play against less good sides, I like them but the centre midfield went awol second half.

I would not have picked Chalaboah, but dont think you can throw the Chelsea thing at him. He chose not to take Cole Palmer. I personally would not have taken Palmer as he has been bang average this year, but on his day, he has the potential to be top class. If he really had been totally about the devil, then Palmer would be in, and many would have agreed with that.

Blooming Reading had him. Crikey. I saw him play couple games for Reading. He was clearly a talent but the levels up he is now is unrivalled. Him on one wing, Eze on the other, Palace had fun for a couple of seasons.

He won the Champions League by parking the bus in the final and it looks like he’s preparing to do it again.

Yeah watching the replay several times I didn't see any contact but both Mowbray and Shearer were apoplectic about why the penalty wasn't given. Anyway well done the ref.

I'm loving how the commentators are trying to big up teams like France, who frankly look bang average. Even Spain didn't really look that good. Think this World Cup is the most wide open yet!

If France's second half performance was 'bang average' then I'll take a few bang average performances from England!
