Cycled down to BC Place with the wife and dog to soak up the atmosphere before Australia v Turkey. Vancouver have done a decent job with organising everything. Nice to see Granville St blocked off to traffic with bars and patios in the pedestrians areas.
Really entertaining game, Turkey with the lion’s share of possession but can’t break through the yellow wall. Aus winning 2-0 courtesy of two excellent goals on the break including one from Watford’s Irankunda. Aus keeper has made a string of fine saves. |  | | |

Doesn’t sound like a classic but Scotland can likely get through now just losing the other two games by a goal. Not that out the question they nick a point from Morocco.
Great for them to grind out the win but the task really was to stick three or four past Haiti. Still a lot to do to get through. The anthem was the best bit and I don’t find the fans cringe at all myself. Boston in the late game local time against a dross team was a perfect fit for the first game. | | | |

I think Scotland are done. Their fans are delirious with the win and I get it, but there's a huge elephant in the room and this is Morocco who will annihilate them with their counter attacks and ball movement and Brazil will also have too much in attack.
Scotland had to wrack up some goals against Haiti to have a chance but they simply don't have the goals in the team and were holding on for a narrow win in the end.
I will be massively impressed if they can get a point from their next two games but I just don't see it. |  | | |

Turn the sound off. Everyone on this site has watched as much, or more, football than any of the professional pundits and commentators. Not listening to their incessant babble improves the game immensely. The only time I turn the sound up is when there's been an incident I missed (occasionally,) or need clarity on (rarely.) | | | |

I’ve thought about it a lot today and I’m torn between occasion/history just weighing so heavy on them that they couldn’t perform, but also the qualifiers I did watch (particularly the Denmark and Greece games) they do leave themselves insanely open in transition which is what kept occurring last night. As weird as it sounds, I reckon Scotland are more likely to nick a point off Brazil than Morocco. Aside from the equaliser I thought Brazil were really poor last night, and assuming they beat Haiti will already be as good as qualified by the time they face Scotland.
Wouldn't be surprised if the pressure and anticipation got to the Scottish players as well - they seemed very nervous and disjointed last night, you could tell there was a real fear of crashing out first game. I think they'll be better next time, even if I still expect Morocco to win. [Post edited 14 Jun 16:34]

Wondering especially in Boston how many fans have travelled from their respective countries and how many actually reside in the US or Canada.
Commentators bashing on about how many have travelled. I know one who drove up from a suburb of DC.
