That first game at home against stoke and the away game at Bury live long in the memory for me

That trip to Bury was something else. They were offering a 3 course roast dinner (or Indian alternative because Bhutia played for them at the time) with seats in the main stand and a fairly old school comedian doing a tight ten afterwards for about £35 per head. So we were all in there! Same thing happened at Blackpool the year after. Great times. A young (slim-ish) Paddy Kenny in the home goal that day. Andy Thomson, proper. | | | |

A very decent football man.
We are moving away from old school football men, and the continental approach seems to be much more in evidence now.
Sad to see a good man go far too soon. And as a man, very much involved in our recovery from potential oblivion. A few more seasons in league one, could have doomed us to be further down the football tree than we otherwise have been.

When I was a pup, I used to caddy for a guy at Sudbury G.C. His regular playing partner was a scout for Watford and Kenny Jackett often made up a fourball.
Even then as a young guy who'd broken in to Watford's team, Jackett was a total gent! Very down to earth genuine lad, who was happy to talk to the caddies as he was the members.
Remember him as a lovely decent guy. Very sad news indeed. |  |

Always remember him as a calm head in most if not all interviews and after match talks. He did a great job as assistant to Holloway and as a manager at other clubs.
