"Somewhere on the internet?"

Worth pointing out that I'm not sure they aim the kit launches or even the kits at the demographic of LfW readers.

I'm sure the kids will love the away one, and having looked again the home one is blue and white hoops which is about as much as you can do.

Just one thing regarding the away kit, didn't we play in the late 80s with red and black hoops with blue shorts a few times? It looked weird even back then.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

But the demographic of this website does still matter. They’ve followed the club for a long time, committing thousands of pounds to it.

But we will all be gone sooner than the new breed of fans.
You can't please everyone and silly kit launches are something that most clubs push towards younger people to drive engagement etc.

If the Beta Squad video gets some new eyeballs on the club and makes a kid want to come to the stadium for a game because they love Beta Squad.... then great.

They've tried to be innovative to be active with the 'youth', I think in this case it's fine. The kits are a bit sht anyway IMO

The home kit looks like it was designed by a 3 yr old with crayons. Truly truly awful. The away kit is marginally better but presents us as a bunch of pussies. But with that monstrosity of a logo, I guess any kit will look abysmal.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

Luckily I have scotland in the WC draw, so wont have to refuse Clives prize offer.

Home kit isn’t terrible, but isn’t doing anything for me. The gold trim feels like a repeat of the 2019-20 home kit but done less well this time.

Away kit is horrible. Interesting that we’ve gone for pink-ish two years in a row: I remember someone saying that the salmon pink number from 2018 was our biggest selling away shirt in years, so maybe we’re trying to repeat that.

You obviously can’t please everyone with kit launches, and commercial concerns trump everything, but between the design, the sponsor and the influencer-first roll-out (huge numbers, sure, but beta squad’s core viewers are basically 9 year old boys) this one has really fallen flat for me.

The wife just looked ar the kit, sighed, and said that it looks like a kind of freebie t-shirt that might be given away with a quarter pounder, large chips and coke. I guess I won't be getting her one for Christmas then.

Agree with both of those things.

Although once you’ve got that ā€˜engagement’ I’d be interested to hear what the strategy is for converting into ticket sales, shirt sales, even subscriptions to our YouTube channel or official website streams. What are our KPIs from this link up that we can sit and judge 3/6/9 months down the line whether that was a good idea and a successful launch? Because if you just dump a piece of content on YouTube (on somebody else’s channel as well) wnk yourself off cos it got 1m views, and then that’s it… then what is that? I’m watching traditional, ā€œlegacyā€ media brands grapple with this every day in my business, it’s all we’re writing about atm. There are some very smart people like After Party Studios, the two guys who are running The Sidemen on the business side, who are insanely good at this and every time I interview them or watch them on panels they’re banging their heads against a wall about how dim a lot of the strategies in this area are.

We’ve just absolutely cranked up our ticket prices in exactly the demographic this sort of content is meant to be targeting btw. Is that joined up thinking? We’re going to team up with YouTube collectives and do viral social media marketing while at the same time go after kids and early 20s lads with punitive price rises. Great plan, Bart.

It’s also just generally irritating me that anybody who thinks the colours we play in matter, our performance in the cups matter, how we communicate and how honest we are matters, is just immediately being written off as ā€œold fartā€ and ā€œdinosaurā€. But that’s my personal grievance.

Not sure on the gold trim around the neck line . Looks a bit blingy. Other than that, its blue and white hoops, so fine with me. Dont like the away kit, and the Mr Q sponsor looks total gash on both shirts. My 17 year old son likes them though. Does anyone know the best way of getting the shirt without the sponsor on?

My wife and daughters looked at away kit and said ā€œthat’s niceā€ . 3 totally non football liking females so there might be an answer. Mind u I would be even more disowned if I bought them all one. Personally like away kit with blue shorts and socks, home shirt not a patch on last season.

I don't tend to get to worked up over the kit. I bought the black red and green third strip a few seasons back, still think that was pretty cool. I don't actually mind the lilac away one, or the pink one from before, although it seems to have a curse on it results-wise. Have to say I'm not mad on this season's home shirt, the yellow is pretty shit as is the sponsor, but sure we'll get used to it once the season starts.

Agree with all of this. Interesting cultural collaborations and linkups can absolutely grow a club's fanbase (Arsenal have done this super successfully over the last decade, even when they weren't winning anything) but as you say it has to be part of a coherent wider strategy.

As a club we've spent a lot of time over the last two decades trying to cut corners and be a bit too clever for our own good. When that inevitably comes back to bite us, we just seem to move onto the next fad. Signing loads of Shaun Wright-Phillips types, breaching FFP, signing players from minor foreign leagues, getting very into data, getting a cycling coach to do our fitness, appointing a flash young CEO with zero experience... it's all part of the same mindset, ultimately.

This kit launch feels like an extension of that theme, sadly. Other clubs are working with influencers, quick, let's get some influencers in. Where's the joined-up strategic thinking from the top? What's our core identity as a club and as a brand? What are we selling that people can't get at Fulham, Chelsea or wherever else, and how does linking up with Beta Squad push that message? I'm sure lots of people at the club are having those conversations, but it doesn't really feel like that story is coming through clearly.

I’m more put out by the price at Ā£59.99 for something that probably cost no more than Ā£5 to make. Don’t know why they don’t price them at no more than Ā£39.99. Surely they’d sell more….

Dh Gate from China will sell them. Only cost a tenner then.

To be fair the club should be able to please everyone.

Home kit's ok, but could be so much better.
For me, the dryworld kit was the one that absolutely nailed it, that got us down to a T.
Been nothing like it since.

Yeah I agree. Dryworld at least understood the heritage a bit better. They sadly didn't understand the marketplace going bust but they designed kits that most of us related to. Errea's approach feels far more like a focus group approach and the club and the fans aren't included, just those guys and girls poncing about on TikTok, because they are the younger demographic apparently, and it's not all about football is it!?

Never knowingly right.

Exactly how it feels.
I won't be surprised if the hoops are dropped altogether one day, so out of touch are these people and companies.

I could accept the away kit if the shorts and socks were in keeping and maybe a darker lilac colour. But blue? Maybe I'm missing something and need to see it all as one. Just doesn't seem to go

The collars look wonky on all kits.

Home is a bit meh. Trying to copy the influence kit but it's just not working with that colour of amber.

Hopefully they'll have an amazing third kit as it's going to get a lot of use!!

I'm not a kid and I like the lilac kit. I actually prefer it to the home kit, where the yellow trim puts me off.

I hadn't realized, but apparently September 2026 will be exactly 10p years of us wearing the hoops (with a very brief gap in the 50s). Surprised they arent making more of that
