A relative has one and I have to say, the pizzas are stupendous!

They made us a beef and horse radish one and it was amazing 👏.

Do you buy the base dough or make it?

We do like a pizza in the Juzzie household and as my son enjoys cooking and food (especially the food!) so might be worth considering?

Any recommendations on the oven itself as I know there are lots? I'd probably want the most straightforward.... easiest to use, clean etc. Probably electric maybe.... just plug it in, no gas bottles etc.

I bet they're not as tasty as a Pizza Crouch.

I've got a Gozney Arc XL, I love it. I wish I was better at making the dough though, I did lots of research and purchased some really good flour but I've still not perfected the dough process yet. I think it's the kneading bit that I am doing wrong.

Still, even at 70% good it's still better and cheaper than any pizza I could buy or get delivered.

I buy both in balls and ready formed bases and keep them in the freezer , the second one if handy if doing four or five at once as saves the sticking flour every where issue , u can litterally just load them up and get a converyor belt going , four pizza usually take around 10 mins to cook ,

mines gas ooni pizza oven ten mins to warm up then ur off and cooking

I’m looking at a wood fired ooni. They come highly recommended and I enjoy the faff. 20 %discount as I work in a garden centre. Ooooh - get me!

Ooni also supply pizza bases but they are extortion.

I had one of the original Uuni ovens when they first came out before they re-branded as Ooni. That was about 10 years ago. Had that for about 8 years and then moved to a Gozney Arc XL which is an amazing oven.

Always make my own dough, keep it pretty simple at around 62/63% hydration and make around 6 hours before. Always use the Pizza App calculator as room temp makes a big difference to proofing and therefore amount of yeast required. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/

Mix all the dough in a bread machine (Dough Setting) for around 20 mins and then whack in proofing tray until 2 hours before and then I ball. (275g balls)

I have built my own from scratch, after lots of research. It came out quite cheap and is fantastic. The pizzas are so much better than in normal oven or restaurants around here. The key to a good pizza is always good ingredients, here they use either emmental - beuurrk - or cheap mozz

One thing when we move that I would love to add to our garden range is a wood fired Pizza Oven. Love a pizza, had my own delivery company about 30 years ago when home delivery pizza's were all the rage.

Lot has changed now, see in the shops 'sweet pizza's' The very thought makes me want to throw up

Indeed. Another tip I'd add is to use semolina to roll the dough on. At high temperature the flour stuck to the underside can burn and get bitter. The semolina ensures there is a little layer of air to prevent that and adds a crunch to it. Also a drizzle of olive oil on the base before putting the tomato

"Lot has changed now". Oh yes.

On a recent holiday in the wilds of France's Vosges, it turned out that a) our hotel didn't serve any food on Sundays or Mondays b) the other restaurant in the village we were staying in had permanently closed c) none of the places to eat in (relatively) nearby towns and villages were open then either, not even restaurants in hypermarkets .

The only convenient solution was outside that now shuttered restaurant: An automatic pizza vending machine. We eyed it warily in the run-up to the Sunday but then decided to take the plunge.

Two minutes later and a piping hot, boxed pizza arrived. We had one each and they were both surprisingly good. The base was decent and the whole thing was flavoursome. Mrs R from Afar reckoned it beat the own brand, supermarket pizzas hands down.

We actually noted four or five such machines dotted around the region...and a lot of permanently closed pizzerias .

Modern life eh?

Wow, a pizza vending machine. Now I have never seen anything like that before

Too much faff for me, dough making, sauce making and buying toppings. Cheaper to order and collect.

Cant eat Pizza at the moment, the Gallbladder will have a field day processing melted cheese.
