| Too early for face paint? 09:59 - Jul 1 with 2521 views | Konk | Walking into work this morning, I walked past a bloke at about 07:55 who had a St George's cross painted on his face. Seemed a bit keen to me. I've never been a face paint sort of bloke, but surely this is too early to go for it? He's presumably got at least a morning of work before heading to the pub. | |

| Too early for face paint? on 10:25 - Jul 1 with 2362 views | Hunterhoop | If he has face paint on at 7.55am ahead of a 5pm England WC game, I’d politely suggest he does not have a morning of work before the pub…. One part of that sentence might be true but I doubt he’ll waiting for midday. Can only imagine what his face will look like come 5pm… [Post edited 1 Jul 10:28]

Surely no-one is getting to the pub at breakfast time in the build-up to England V DRC at tea time?! I lunchtime seems fair enough.

But also for match attendees only.

This. Is. England. I’d still wager a grown man with the St. George’s flag painted onto his face by 7.55am, is more likely to be headed to a pub than a place of work in the morning. Whether that is a wise decision is another matter.

I know a good few games are 2am etc but how are the match times being recieved overall. 11 am here for England V Congo today pretty useless to any construction guys

I have watched the 5 pm and 6 pm games. 9 pm games have been a pain for kids, but doable I allowed my son to stay up for the Panama game at 10 pm, but he was absolutely knackered the next day and none of his mates got to watch it. I stayed up for Scotland v Brazil, but went to sleep after the first goal. I've caught the odd bit of overnight matches if I've woken in the night. I don't know anyone watching the games in the middle of the night. Generally, there doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much of a buzz as usual - think that's partly down to the time difference, a bit down to stodgy performances/games (but we usually have that) and a bit down to the lack of jeopardy in the groups. If we go through tonight but then lose against Mexico, I would imagine I'd feel even more disconnected. Speaking with mates in Europe, they've all felt very removed from it too.

So far, the European stats for tv viewing figures during this World Cup are showing record highs. This also includes the UK.
