Harry Kane 20:52 - Jul 1 with 3606 viewsnumptydumpty

Appreciate there is an England thread and also appreciate we are on a QPR fans forum, but i think its got to be said Harry Kane is quite an incredible footballer. His figures at club level and in internationals are insane.

You never ever hear any dirt on the guy either. I believe his wife he has been with since his school days. He was incredibly.loyal to Tottenham and look how they have been doing the last two seasons without him.

With better players around him at Bayern Munich, he has taken his game up a level and the guy seems nerveless also. Has also become the leading voice for his players and yet he is not as lauded as Gascoigne was, or the likes of Beckham and Rooney.

I still very much doubt we will get much further but clearly with Kane amongst England ranks they will always have a chance.

If he wants to spend his semi retirement back in London W12, anyone got his number ??

Last thing we need is another aging mercenary looking for a final paycheck of us....😁

Plus can't see him getting much game time in our promotion winning team . So it's a no from me......

Have to agree! As good as Harry is, and he is, I just don't think he's got the pace, skill-level, or football intelligence to survive in a team playing the fast-moving and ultra-fluid Stephanball that we do.

Maybe a couple of years ago, but seeing him struggle in the B&W would be akin to watching Muhammad Ali lumbering through his last few disastrous fights. Equally, the thought of Amadou Mbengue berating Harry for not being able to get on to one of his crosses arriving five rows back in the Upper Loft would not be a sight I'd want to see.

His chance has gone, but we certainly wish Kane well wherever he chooses to play his club football next.

His record in the Championship is nothing special, 9 goals in 35 games.

Not sure he would get in our team right now.

Especially not at his age.

It was a very tongue in cheek comment about Kane joining us in his later years because its never going to happen, but also no chance if Kane does drop down a few rungs in the ladder in his later years, no way is he phoning in performances a la Boswinga, Wright Phillips.

The guy is a winner and always would play to win, whoever he was playing for.

He is the best England player ever imo, for all the plaudits to Rooney and Beckham and as good as they were they never did it in knockout games really. Kane has scored in 2 semi finals, 2 quarter finals and key goals in the first knockout games in 2018, 2021, 2022, 2024 and again last night. Bobby Charlton is the only one close to him.

Numpty did you think I was being serious?

At 50 he would be too good for us and I'm sure the 15k a week we would cobble together, after searching down the back of the settee... wouldn't get him out of bed in the morning

Hard to disagree. He’ll break Shilton’s caps record soon. 31 goals and counting ahead of Rooney.

Appreciate him while he’s here as there’s nobody for now suggesting they’ll be close to up to it once he’s gone. If he’s not the starting striker at the next World Cup it’ll probably be someone we haven’t heard of yet.

While we're at it, lets not sign Killian Mbappe either.

And if Margot Robbie comes sniffing round me with a kebab and a some lagers she can also fck off.

He is a superb player and has been the difference for England for some time now. Not the quickest but his razor sharp brain compensates for that, plus all his other attributes; skill, finishing, desire , determination, leadership etc. The greatest ever? I don’t know. I tend to fall into the trap of dismissing modern players compared to ā€˜back in the day’ and I mean waaay back. You can only compare like with like so only strikers are comparable imo. Jimmy Greaves? Geoff Hurst? I think you have to win a major trophy to be considered the very best. That ā€˜criticism’ was certainly levelled at Messi before the last WC, regardless of all he had achieved at Barca. Sadly, I can’t see Kane winning a major trophy for England, he does not have enough top class players around him.

Football's a team game, so it doesn't make sense to say you can only be considered the best if you win a major trophy. Tennis players yes, footballers, not really.

The greatest player this country has ever produced.

Hung around at Tottenham when he could've easily agitated for a move. Finally asked for a move when it was all falling to pieces and was told he had to stay... so he did and carried on scoring loads whilst carrying the team.
Finally got a move to a notoriously snobby domestic league and absolutely blew the doors off of it.

Nobody else at international level comes close. 30 goals more than our next best goalscorer. Not slowing down. Goals in 2x semi finals, 2x QF. Captained the side aged 24 to their first semi final on foreign soil in nearly 30 years

Not to say Haaland isn't incredible, but I'd have him over Haaland any day. He's incredible and I'm not sure how England replace him

Just been speaking to my boss about this, he'd have Mbappe over Kane for the speed which I can see the logic of, but as far as English players goes Kane is the best striker and player I've ever seen, and I think is very worthy of being considered the best ever.

As far as jokes about signing ageing superstars...I saw a post on the QPR Reddit forum earlier this week of someone seriously suggesting we sign Delle Alli! Lunatics. It did of course also include the typical suggestion of a PAYP deal too...

100%

Cruyff, Di Stefano, Puskas, Best, Eusebio...not a World Cup medal between them.

And had Messi not won one then he'd still be the best player of all time in my humble opinion.

Hey ho Malintabuk, the tone of the intended meaning of the written word always easily misinterpreted by all and sundry.

We need a tongue in cheek emojii for all posters that write with this tone in mind

In a recent survey, 99.99% of loftforwords contributors exhibited this quality precisely.

Harry Kane is just pure class in my lifetime of watching England from around 1970 onwards without doubt the best striker ever to wear an England shirt. His all round game is superb as a striker comparing him to Gary Lineker who was also a great striker, whereas Lineker was a goal poacher with a tremendous amount of speed near and around the 18 yard box, Kane is a much better all round player who creates as much as is laid onto him. I would say the move to Bayern Munich has pushed him up a level and his career is really at the top now, not bad for a 33 year old. Deserves all his success and seems a thoroughly decent bloke and a great role model for young aspiring footballers.

Harry Kane is the best (by far) English goalscorer in my lifetime, but I would have to question that he is the best ever English player.

A completely different position, but Robert Moore holds that accolade IMO, although the man himself rated Tom Finney as untouchable. Harry is probably the closest we get as captain.

It won't just be his goals that we miss when Harry retires from international football.

Not disagreeing with this. I was merely making the point that there was a narrative out there before Argentina won the last WC that Messi wouldn’t be considered one of the all time greats unless they won the WC. Kane is a superb player, not sure he is England’s greatest ever.

If we win this world cup and Harry Kane gets another five goals, he is our greatest ever player bar none. Not even either Bobby could match up then.

All we have to do is beat

Mexico

Brazil

Argentina

France / Spain

Sorted.....
