Flicking through the channels I came across Piers Morgan's World Cup Uncensored on Channel 5.Late into the programme our old "friend" John Terry and Simon Jordan were chatting about Gary Linekar's campaign to get Emma Hayes to become the next Leicester City manager.
So throwing it out there,could you see a time when a woman is standing in the dug out here at HQ directing operations and giving our boys instructions from the sidelines?
Could it work or is the men's game and the woman's game like chalk and cheese?
The ironic thing is that Linekar's Netflix show-The Rest Is Football-is rated 15 because it's full of fffin and blinding used for "comedic effect"(?) and to give the show a sense of "dressing room realism".
Without being sexist would that "realism" work with a woman as the head coach?
Perhaps I'm old school but if I'm in the company of a woman I never swear.
It's the way I was brought up.

It's been done already plenty of times.
Most recently, Union Berlin were managed by a woman in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
We should also remember that it's Piers Morgan's and Simon Jordan's job to create conflict and that John Terry is just on TV to rehabilitate his image ahead of seeking a manager's job.
I think a minority of fans would take issue, but if they do well their gender will be forgotten and if they do badly it will be the stick they are beaten with.

This is the first I've heard of it, and genuinely not looking to pick holes, but I'm guessing his campaign is to get Emma Hayes in, based on her ability, rather than just to get a woman in because she's a woman.
I'd feel the same if it was for us - if she's good enough and has the right ideas then no problem. And I'm sure her language is just as fruity as any bloke's - that's pretty standard these days. |  | | |

She's probably more qualified than lots of managers who get jobs, and some crap ones who keep getting jobs based on name or agents.
She might be a success or a failure if she got a jjob like this or eslewhere, just like anyone else. I guess you interview and decide. | |

But you are right BarryWhomResidesInTheLoft, it's a tired formula. Ok, you take the controversial position, you advocate for the sensible one, and let's have a dust up as the mugs...sorry, punters, will lap it up.

If she is qualified she should have every right to apply and be hired. That, or they can employ Joey Barton or John Terry who both think they're qualified to mould impressionable young people. | |
