Was in Tesco last Thursday and they already have Xmas puds and mince pies on the shelves!
I lived in Manila for a few years and those peeps start around now getting their decorations up.
I was waiting for the lift with a colleague when I took a look at something that we'd rushed past in the huge lobby area: a huge bloody decorated Christmas tree. I said to my colleague, 'It's a Christmas tree. In September!' To which she replied in part glee and partly not understanding why I seemed shocked by it, 'Yes, Sir, of course its Christmas!'
And now I read that we're following suit! FFS, anything before Guy Fawkes night is wrong!

Used to work in the chocolate industry and specifically seasonal chocolates for a bit. The stats for how people plan for Christmas and spend when paydays hit from around now are kind of interesting as someone who can afford to/is nowhere near bothered enough to think about Christmas before December 10th. You never see ads for those companies that take money off you every month to save for Christmas, probably because they kept mysteriously going bust in November.

Nothing should go up prior to 1st December in my view.
A nice mackerel sky over the saintly borough of Hammersmith, which portends well for the autumn. The Met Office has released its list of storm names. Not many familiar names.

I wouldn't object to QPR going up before December!

yeah I saw some advent calendars on the shelves yesterday. Aug 31. Xmas is basically four months away. It's ludicrous.

Most stores here have a rotating "seasonal" section Jan to mid Feb it's valentines day, then they get the shamrocks out for at Patrick's day, move to Easter stuff in, then 4th July (or generic "summer" in the UK), move to Halloween, then Thanksgiving then Christmas.
For the most part it means you're spared Christmas stuff in August which is ludicrous.
Although I see Starbucks are attempting to claim "fall" is officially starting because they're launching their pumpkin spiced latte. They can fck off, it's still 100 degrees outside
