And the fall out of QPR v Chelsea continues. The effect on the English game of that one fixture has been amazing.

It is of course all the FA's own doing. Wonder if they planned it all along. Consiracy theorists will have a field day. England still have no chance of winning the Euros but have a much better chance with Rednapp in charge.

They'll fudge it and give it to Pearce short term.

Not sure why Capello would make this stand now? Appears to have been cruising above all the previous nonsense and picking up the large cheque.
That sure that Euro's will be a shocker or big job waiting in Italy?

Has to be Rodgers as new boss though doesn't it - he'll have them playing like Barcelona...

Warnock for England. That's what the Man U fans were chanting, isn't it? Great short-term appointment till after the Euros.

No way, that appointment would be too unpopular, with me especially!

Capello was looking for a fight and a reason to go.

The FA have made a pig's ear of the Terry scenario, this was the only option for them. How can he not be captain but still stay in the squad.

IMHO this is good news for england, drop Terry, Lampard, Downing, Barry, Capello just couldn's be arsed to scout alternatives.

At least Pearce knows the players from the U21 squad, the likes of Wellbeck, Smalling, Sturridge, Jones, etc can get some meaningful experience.

Lets just right the Euros off, we were never going to do anything anyway

This is fantastic news for English football, but, you kind of expect The FA to screw it up all over again.

West Ham may have won the world cup in '66'

But with any luck QPR will win the Euros in '12'

So why didn't Capello step down when Terry was last stripped over the Captaincy due to his affair with Bridge's ex? Or is that OK because he made the decision and not the FA?

Seems like a convinient excuse to get out before he has another Tournament shambles on his CV.

Delighted with this news.

If Redknapp doesn't take it then I think Roy Hodgson.

Stuart Pearce would be too much passion and heart, not for me.

I was pretty happy having Capello, he has an unbelievable managerial record and I reckon he'd have done better this time around.

Plus with the exception of sour face everyone else touted leaves me cold.

If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled. PG Wodehouse

Not sure where capello has ticked any boxes?

V negative style of football that doesn't suit the english game.

The fact that he never even managed to learn the english language, while earning his 6m a year is an utter disgrace imo and I for 1 am delighted he has gone.

God knows what would happen with Hodgson in charge - didn't go well with better quality players at Liverpool did it?
Those stories of him training with players holding rope to be sure of where to stand & move...
You'd be better with Big Sam and some good old fashioned hit it long to the big man...

Hodgson is an easy target with regards to his liverpool days but if you look at his career as a whole then it's nothing short of superb.
