Just a reminder, the game is already well established, several seasons running now. And dead easy! You simply guess ONCE (now!) what you think will be the final league positions for the Premier League 2013-14 (that’s all teams, in order 1st to 20th), leave them on this thread, and then sit back and enjoy!
This game will initially take you a couple of minutes, and then enjoy without having to make updates at all, all season. And a reminder of what the game is actually about, and how you win (or at least try to do well ... !!
According to your choices of the TWENTY Premier teams in finishing order come the end of the season you score lots of, or better still here, FEW points. And how do you score points?
Scoring is as follows: For each team you score one point for each place away from its predicted position. Example - if you predict Sunderland to finish 9th and they finish 9th, you score 0 points (excellent predicting). If they finish 13th you score 4 points or if they finish 7th you score 2 points. Therefore, the nearer you get to the exact position and have less points mounting up the better of course. I will endeavour to make updates at the beginning of every month during the season out of interest, but all leaderboards during the season are given for interest.
IMPORTANT - The big winners are the people who have LEAST points after the final game has been played.
The table positions won’t change position so much in the later stages of the season so … how can we maintain interest you might be thinking?! Well, this season we have MONTHLY rewards for those in the top positions! For example, rewards for high positions at the end of every month (say, calculating from the REAL table on the 31st at 11.59pm!!). Here's the idea:
1st - take off 5 bonus points from score of best, so score dips even lower
2nd - take off 4 bonus points
3rd - take off 3 bonus points
4th - take off 2 bonus points
5th - take off 1 bonus point
Bonus Points for the most successful - Positions 1 to 5 (on points so there may well be far more than 5 people involved) will have from 5 to 1 point deducted - further helping their score. Their position for the deduction will be based on their (true) score, not taking any previous deductions into account.
Also, where forums have an entry of a minimum of five people there will be a ‘board average’ too, thus you’ll be able to see how your forum copes against many of the others. I believe it’s an average set against a yardstick of averages and not a simple add up and divide, but the order of forums will always be correct. We’ll also have some notable entries from media, press and public figures to spice it up too. | |

Given that the change-over has caused confusion, I really think it best to produce the WHOLE entries, sorry it's going to be a long post. If you are not here and have entered I think it must've have been just in that crucial day or two days before that great point of re-launching the site, but I can't imagine it'd affect hardly anyone, I'm sure I have virtually everything down. But in that case you were not shown and have done it, I'd have to politely ask you to have another go! ... anyway, the game is going to be better than you think when the league season gets going, promised!!

OK everyone, last entries are to be received tomorrow, FRIDAY, by 11.59pm! It’s not being a ‘jobsworth’ here, we have to further prepare all 600+ entries over the weekend and if we accept weekend entries we’d never finish! So very sorry, none to be counted on Saturday, it’s been up nearly a month now!
Latest figues as of Wednesday 14th August - 620 guesses / from 38 forums (with 37 of these included in the forum average game too.
Just a word; what I’ve been doing in some previous posts is only numbering the individual entries. Doesn't mean anything it itself, except that of course the more entries the more chance statistically the best individuals from your forum will be well positioned overall, but anything can happen.
And in the separate forum competition part it is not vital having lots at all. It's simply a minimum of 5 needed to get a forum average, but once there reached it's an averaged out forum guess from all predictions on a particular site so ... you're on equal footing whether it's 6 participants or 50 from a forum - all to play for. However, with lots of guesses in an ‘idiot’ selection does get minimalized!
But you never know what’s in store; if someone has - for example — Palace down for 10th and they did in fact finish 10th, then that person would be 8-10 points better on that guess compared to nearly everyone else - who (really sorry Palace fans on this occasion!) have decided Palace are a choice down for relegation. So points are awarded, then added up, on EVERY team and how far out you are, both for the individual awards and the team forums - that’s why your best thought-out order is what we're after! Lots of points are BAD; means you’re way out with positions. Ah, but which teams might throw a surprise then, either better or far worse than most expect? I simply dunno … ah, well that's the real beauty of football, and what makes this game fun!!
What IS IMPORTANT to know is that after this weekend’s premier league fixtures the first REAL fan points come onto the table and the first national order produced. Have fun — should be up middle of next week.
