News of a departure from Loftus Road coming up tonight ...#QPR

it's slightly annoying the method of pre-announcing the departure to drum up attention, but at least people are leaving!

EDIT - Granero gone on loan...

Can we not knock it?

I've said this before but...isn't it a bit strange the way we used to get excited about who was arriving, whereas now we get excited about who is departing?

I do find it highly bizarre that the club sees it fit to try and build up the hype imminent departures from the club. Naff - Just announce it when it happens and move on.

No idea if any other club does drum rolls about departures, but I like it. Good to see us leading the way in crowd pleasing exits.

Just goes to show that we offered these players far to much money and nobody wants to pay them anywhere near what we are. Was he signed on a 4 year deal?

Miguel, Spanish journo who writes for LFW whenever we're about to be torn apart by a Spanish player we've never heard of, says that Granero is on 2.7m Euros a year at QPR and was asked to drop that to come in line with Sociedad's top earners so he could move permanently. He refused so he's gone on loan with QPR making up the difference.

Quite an expensive lesson for Chairman Tony this is turning out to be.

You just realise how crazy the wages we doled out are - clubs like Napoli, real sociedad, PSV etc can't come close to matching our wages!

After a decent start we are just deferring the issue unil next summer...

It on the offish:

http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/150813-granero-sociedad-994513.aspx

"Midfielder returns to La Liga on season long loan deal

ESTEBAN Granero has returned to Spain to join Real Sociedad on loan.

The 26 year-old midfielder has penned a season long loan deal with the La Liga outfit.

Granero, of course, joined QPR from Real Madrid last summer and has since made 28 appearances in all competitions for the R’s, scoring one goal.

The deal is subject to international clearance."

Anyone know what international clearance is? Is that just their way of saying "work visa"?

There's a huge exodus of players from Spain (more than 70 players) from all but the top two clubs:
http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/aug/15/la-liga-season-preview-2013

Granero seems to be the only one headed in the opposite direction.

As Real Sociedad are in the Champions League, he might be playing Champions League football next week.

But one year closer to end of contract.

Just over 50 grand a week then.

In fairness how else did we think he'd have been persuaded to join? Now you know what "project" means.

By the time all these loans are finished, it would be interesting to know how much in total a month we are paying out for players NOT to play for us!

If this is the best deal available to us though then there's little we can do about it. Even if we're paying half his wages it's still £1.3m off the books for a player we've already seen can't contribute. Better than full whack.
