Triumphant annual return for this one. Honestly can't ever recall such an uninspiring list.

Runners and riders - Column 3rd Apr 2019 18:40
It's that time again, QPR in the market for a new manager. With every passing year comes a less inspiring list of runners and riders for us to sift through and try to make sense. 16

Out of all those, I'd probably go for Clint Hill.
Wouldn't be out of our price range.
Knows and loves the club.
Plenty of football experience at many levels.
Down side, it would be his first managerial job, but of all those listed I would only go for Mr Jacket but I don't think he would move from Portsmouth to QPR so it's Clint for me.

I'd take Clint Hill but insert a clause that he get a Million £ for every year he was let go early from his contract.

So it seems that Gareth's strengths as a manager may be mainly as a motivator rather than a master tactician. Bring him in and get Chris Ramsey to help the other coaches with the first team, part time on style of play and tactics so that he can continue with his other roles at the club.

Gerry seemed to be effective coaching part time with Pullis at Stoke etc.

For me Jackett would be the best of the aforementioned bunch.

If Portsmouth dont gain promotion then we may have a chance of getting him.

Would love Clint or Gareth but if/when it eventually goes teets up I would hate to have their standing at QPR sullied in any way

captains fantastic

As I said on the pod last night, and at the end of that piece, I can't pretend I've got one. Bad list. I don't know.

If you nailed me to the wall and made me choose I'd go for Jackett from that list. But I don't think he'd come.

I said it last time too but when the list is that bad, Sherwood looks OK. Almost like they've made him look better than he is.

Kind of have to disagree with Sherwood and Bowyer's Not Joey Barton rating.

List is very sparse -so I would wait so we need a temporary manager.

Given the players available and the desire to stay up I would go for Holloway. He knows most of them and him them

He is a fan.We trust him to do his best. His only problem in the long term is his best may not be good enough for many.It is disrespectful to him really but he could do a job.

In the long term we need the best young manager we can find.As we should recruit keen young players so with managers.

Panic sacking that does not impress me at all.The players would have got us over the line.

No mention of the Cowleys ? Clint Hill is a nice idea but scares me a bit then we cant be much worse than we have been this season

Surprised that Joey Barton's not on the list.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

Nigel Adkins is a good shout, from that list I'd go with Jackett or Ainsworth but it's a depressing list. How on earth did we get into a position where Tim Sherwood was our first choice

Michael Appleton Pro: could quite possibly tear the head off any gobby opposition fan

Con: could do the same to any of our fans. Or players.

He's the bookies first choice, not necessarily ours.

Thanks Clive

Why don't we just try and get this right this time and not rush the decision and follow usual recruitment processes

Advertise
Assess
Short List
Interview
Decide
Appoint

We probably have a couple of months to find the right person and make the appointment.

U R's

Cheers,

We do it off the bookies odds and they’re not priced. Neither was Warne when we wrote, I’d be amazed if there’s anything in that.

The Sherwood bit really made me laugh as the pros sort of built him up and then the cons started with calling him a helmet.

I would go for Ainsworth as I dont think KJ would come or Les will want any Gallens at the club due to history. He might be the right man to build a team that avoids relegation in what will be a difficult year.

If however the recent apparent FFP fantasy rule casino at the EFL means the owners say fk it lets burn another 250 mill then its Pep for me obviously.

Pep doesn't have the experience in the Championship, it's a no from me.

I have been monitoring Twitter for rumours and as of last night, the only sources for the Warne thing were a spoof QPR FC site and HITC. I think HITC just winged it and copied the spoof site but perhaps I am wrong. It seems strange that they are the only two mentioning it, and the spoof site is after all just a parody (although with us, the line between a parody and reality is wafer thin!).

I'd like to think the club is also doing what others have and looking for successful, up and coming overseas managers but who knows. I did send details of the guy who got Sassuolo established in Serie A to Amit and Tony but whilst he is available, he is probably out of our league even if we did risk going with someone who is new to English football. Mind you, De Canio was parachuted in and did a good job. He is available, by the way...

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
