Your daily Barton thread on 10:07 - Aug 11 with 1999 views | bosh67 | Given the way he's started the season for us and his attitude to knuckle down (so far) I would be disappointed if he leaves now. I can understand why he would want one final crack at the Premiership and to work with big Sam again but I get the feeling he has settled again, he's enjoying his football, he's being well paid, the fans and management have stayed with him here, so you think why move again? It is Joey so anything can happen but the guy is playing with a smile on his face and we know when he is on his game he's a very very good player.

Your daily Barton thread on 10:56 - Aug 11 with 1900 views | QPRDave | This story was floating around last season wasn't it? Hope not true fat Sam can f-off.
Your daily Barton thread on 11:57 - Aug 11 with 1828 views | THEBUSH | Like JB or hate him, one thing for sure is, we can't afford his massive wages, while we're in the Championship. If we can get a fee for him, all the better, but he has to go, imo.
Your daily Barton thread on 12:09 - Aug 11 with 1795 views | stuabd | Judging by his quote this week, his special relationship with our fans means he will stay to help us to get promotion. Mmmmmm. Let's face it, he's in the shop window at the moment, and he'll be off at the first chance if someone offers him a good financial deal.
Your daily Barton thread on 12:15 - Aug 11 with 1784 views | eghamranger | JB has been superb this season.......Why do people want him to leave? He plays every week, of course we can afford him, we have saved loads of money on players and wages recently. Samba Ben Haim Ferdinand Cisse mackie Boswonker Park Remy,Tarrabt,Derry, Look at the midfield yesterday, if ale is injured, our midfield isn't great.

Sorry, we can't afford him on 18,000 gates, it's just not feasible.
Your daily Barton thread on 12:26 - Aug 11 with 1761 views | Neil_SI | I find the whole situation to be somewhat odd. I don't think Barton warranted a place in the team, based on what went on in pre-season, as it just wasn't fair on the other players who did all their work as asked and then wasn't picked. That's just as important, if not more important, than whether he is the better player or best player for the role. If you talk up team spirit and rebuilding it, then you're not going to please a lot of players, those who are left out, but even those who aren't, by selecting someone who hasn't done what was asked or required. To me, that's asking for trouble and telling any player that no matter how hard they train or how well they train, it doesn't matter, because you might not get in the team for someone who hasn't done the same. Equality and respect is very important to them. But maybe playing Barton increases the chances that somebody else will take him, as he has more value being fit and playing matches, than not, albeit playing him is obviously increasing the risk of injury and probably why you see so many other players who want to leave suddenly unfit to play, as they're worried of scuppering their chances of a move. Having said all of that, Barton worked hard yesterday and has worked hard in the matches he has played, irrespective of the quality of his performances. He probably covered more ground than all of the other players, such was his tendency to drift inside and at times, all the way to the left. He also looks more comfortable at this level of football, it probably suits him more, as it does a lot of our players who thought they were Premier League class, but look like this is where they should be, or this is where they will most benefit before trying to take that next step. I am also surprised at the reception Barton has received from supporters and I think he is very lucky in that respect, but at the same time, he himself seems to have acknowledged that. He just got on with playing yesterday and that was nice to see. We are great supporters after all, and historically a very fair crowd, but sometimes maybe the club and the players don't even necessarily realise this — and that's really a culmination of all the things that have built up and gone wrong over the years that have left a lot very frustrated. At the end of it all though, all things considered, I still think the right move for him and the club, would be for Barton to move on. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If we based the salaries on what we could afford on gates of 18,000 the team would look a lot different from what it is now.

Yeh, but in the Premiership we got 40-50 million from tv rights etc., parachute payments in the Championship are nowhere near that. I think it's been made clear by TF, that he's not prepared to pay Premiership wages in the Championship.

Mate, we can't afford nine the tenths our team on gates of 18000. But like just about every other club in the top two division we are being propped up by sponserships and a wealthy owner.
Your daily Barton thread on 13:57 - Aug 11 with 1600 views | Toast_R | His corners seem more effective then the countless ones Tarbs used to bodge. Granero too looks a complete liability with a set piece. So unless you're replacing Barton with someone better on the field, getting rid of him would seem a classic case of cutting your nose off to spite your boat.
Your daily Barton thread on 14:01 - Aug 11 with 1588 views | Nov77 | their goal yesterday was largely down to him. He left his man in acres of space to put the cross in, both green and hill had a go at him immediately afterward.

Your daily Barton thread on 14:39 - Aug 11 with 1534 views | londonscottish | Personally I'd be happy to see him go (although no idea if that's a realistic prospect). Sounds like he's done OK in the last three games but in the past he's either (a) tailed off and started to misplace place passes with monotonous regularity or (b) exploded in some sort of physical/Twitter rage and f*cked it all up. Your daily Barton thread on 16:19 - Aug 11 with 1360 views | paulparker | Sell him the bloke is a 24 carrot Kunt Cannot believe some people would think it would be the end Of the world if we got rid but yet were quite happy to see Tarbs go to Fulham Let's give it a couple of weeks before we see him do something Stupid and then slag us all off on twitter
