With just a little over week to go before the new season, lest not go us into all that heartbreak just yet.

Anyway, just for fun.
With all the talk about Zimmer being a major part of Dunkirk. Of which I agree with.

Umm I cant really add to that.

This is my choice of movies that would, I feel would have meant little without the impact of a great musical score.

Just three choices.

https:

There are many, many more so I would be very interested in your own choices.

Cheers.

Excellent call on Watchmen, that opening sequence is probably better than the rest of the movie TBH. And really, really annoyingly half of the sings don't make it onto the soundtrack cd.

Can't find a decent video, and maybe a bit obvious, but The Third Man is still the gold standard for me.

The whole Conan the Barbarian soundtrack by Basil Poledouris is ace

Last of the Mohicans one of my favourite films ever, partly because of this - gives me goosebumps every time (in fact, most of Michael Mann's tv and film work has great soundtracks)

Dune, for all its faults, had a great score...

We also had custom made Clarence and Alabama cake toppers

Great thread.

The Nolan-Zimmer connection has already been mentioned in the OP, but I just love Memento, and the music and mournful mood in the final scene gets me every time.

[SPOILER - or is it? Can you even spoil Memento?]

The best soundtrack of any film in the last twenty years

I've always had a habit of listening to the sound tracks instead of watching the movie. Anyway, here is one of my favourite songs to a movie.

Once Upon a Time in the West is just fantastic.

But away from the movies, sort of, is Fargo the TV series, which has probably the most counter-intuitively brilliant soundtrack of anything I've ever watched. Brilliant.

Bare bones.

Paris, Texas - a haunting soundtrack from Ry Cooder

And Ry Cooder also features on another great soundtrack - Performance -

Edit - danged if I know why the first track won't play on here. It's such a good track too! Guess you'll have to YouTube: Paris, Texas - Wim Wenders - 1984 to hear it...

Edit 2 found a different version, not quite such good quality unfortunately plus it misses out the first bar!... should work now though..

Edit 3: nope still won't bleedin' work. If you can be arsed to search for it it's the one with Harry Dean Stanton in a red cap walking across the desert....

True Romance already mentioned several times. I also enjoyed the music for The Third Man. Very fitting.
