At the risk of repeating any similar threads and spurred on by the Mince thread.
What has been your favourite comedies over the years (old and new)
For me - Old - Laurel & Hardy, Fawlty Towers, the Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise
Not quite so old - Only Fools, Black Adder (apart from the first series), The Office, Alan Partridge, Harry Enfield and the Fast Show.
Newer - I am struggling a bit to be honest. Modern Family is great and Car Share was brilliant.
I've probably missed loads so fill me in (so to speak)

The Thick Of It
Arrested Development

Peep Show

Must be more. The early series of Modern Family was actually very good. The later ones are almost unwatchable.

Lots of good ones already - but how about This Country? For those of us who have moved out to the sticks it’s so accurate - plus nice to see Swindon Town getting some publicity?

I like a lot of those mentioned but my favourite was Rising Damp. Leonard Rossiter as Rigsby was brilliant.

Many comedies seemed fun at the time, but the novelty would wear off or the material got too 'samey' or formulaic'.

Those that have stood the test of time for me and which I could watch a number of times.

Porridge
The Young Ones (though there were a few weak episodes)
Frasier
Laurel & Hardy
Bilko (inherited my dad's box set)
The early Tom and Jerry cartoons (not the later poorly animated and rather naff ones...)
Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister
Rising Damp
The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin
First couple of series of Outnumbered
Blackadder
Drop the Dead Donkey
Old Harry's Game (radio only)
Clare in the Community (radio only)
Fawlty Towers
Monty Python
Family Guy
South Park (well, some...)
Absolutely Fabulous (though later series started to grate a little)

If I had to narrow it down to just three, probably Blackadder, Porridge and Frasier.

Lots of great ones mentioned.

In the US, Brooklyn 99 is brilliant.

More recently in the UK, Murder in Successville was brilliant, laugh out loud stuff.

QPR got mentioned in M.A.S.H. they were treating some English squaddies and one said he fancied QPR to win the FA Cup, bear in mind this was supposed to be in the 50’s!
The early Big Bang Theory was good wearing a bit thin now though.
Surprised no one’s mentioned On the Buses!

Although for me this is one of the all time greatest comedy sketches. Steve Martin at his very best. Watch until the end!
