Thats what the commentator said at the end of the match tonight. P**es me off. We used to get that when we were up there. Never hear them say big spending utd, pool, chelsea, city or arsenal. But when a small team comes up and spends some cash theyre big spenders. Does my head in. What should they do. Roll over and die?

Quite frankly, yes. Thats what FFP was for.

A team spends £100 million on players trying to compete in the Premiership against teams that spend that and more on a single player. Then if it goes wrong the side that spends £100 million on a number of players gets punished if it doesn't compete. FFP is a complete sh*tpile and always will be. Nonsensical.

Never knowingly right.

Nothing fair about FFP. It’s a scheme to keep the big few big and to stop the rest competing. And as for the ignorance of journalists and commentators, don’t get me started ...

Chelsea and Man City buy their way from mediocrity to the top and then are instrumental on shutting the door to anyone else doing the same.

Modern football.

Fulham won't be done under FFP

Look like Fulham are rolling over and dying despite spending £100million. The need our back four. Reckon we could convince Rangel, Lynch, Liestner and Bidwell?

It's a fair point about fpp, but maybe they were just incredulous that they were that gash after spending 100 million. They looked very similar to our Premier league team really. A it dodgy at the back, no pace at all to get out and various overpaid names that look good on paper doing sod all for their money. They are in deep shit

I don’t blame them at all for giving it a go financially but any team that can spend £100m and still has Odoi at centre-half has got something wrong.

They might come good but some of those players last night just didn’t fancy it one bit. It was like a QPR away performance under Hughes while Huddersfield saw it as a cup final.

Reminds me a lot of our second season in the prem under MH bringing in lots of new players on big money while giving the mushroom treatment to the players who got us promoted. Players on big money not giving a s**t next to the honest pros who got us up. Divided toxic dressing room suspect Foolham will sack manager but still get relegated ..........

Mawson being injured has been a big issue for them. Those two centre backs weren't even very good in the Championship, particularly Odoi.

You’re dead right but they haven’t thought it through very well. Where are they going to find all the stooges for the likes of Man City to put five or six past on Sky when they’ve put all the smaller clubs out of business?

They have only spent money received from the tv deal. We spent money we didn't have. There's no comparison.

What kind of of contracts have they been handing out though on what type of wages? Some of those player certainly wouldn't have come cheap. If they go down which a the moment looks nailed on, are they going to be able to off load the players or will they have the same problems QPR had as in, no f*cker wants to leave as no other club will match their current contract?

There's a stark resemblance to the QPR blunders.

Seems there's nothing more despicable to people than a club that spends money and loses. Meanwhile nothing but slurping about City as new revelations leak every day.

Mawson's been pretty poor for them even when not injured though.

Bare bones.

They also get 10,000 more through the turnstiles than we do. I still say there is no comparison. IF they go down they will have the parachute payments for 3 years as well.

...at what point will the penny drop regarding Hughesless??? How many clubs does he have to run into the ground, how many ex-players saying what he's reallly like as a manager will it take???

Odoi is a funny one. I can't see one feature about him that makes him a centre back. He's not quick, he's not big, he's weak in the air, he doesn't read the game well and he's not very good with the ball at feet.

Whilst I don't think they have spent that £100m very well - hmm, I am getting a feeling of deja vu - you make a very good point.

That said, most of the pundits are in thrall to "the big clubs" who think nothing of spending tens of millions on individual players, then play them out of position. Oh, and then there is "Manchester United syndrome": however much you spend, you never end up with the right balance, meaning yet more spending is required. See also: Van Gaal, Louis, and Mourinho, Jose.

The most important thing to remember, though, is that it's the likes of Fulham and QPR that are ruining football with their profligate spending. Spending £89m on a player who struggles to concentrate or do anything useful when the opposition have the ball can only benefit the game, ditto players paid £300k a week to sit on the bench.

Rotten to the core.

RFA

PS: Oh, and while I am here, the radio pundits were bemoaning the lack of fans at the Spurs v Citeh game last week. It was on a Monday night, for goodness sake, not 3pm on a Saturday

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Fulham has spent a crapload on money very poorly, but I doubt they'll have FFP troubles even if they go down. A couple of facts that distinguish them from QPR:

1. They are sitting on a 50m asset (at a minimum) in sessegnon. he hasn't been up to standard this season, but hes only 18 and is on a lot of big clubs radars. they also have cairney who was quoted at 20m last year. QPRs best asset was Charlie Austin, who had one year left on his contract, and couldn't fetch 15m. I imagine theyre not interested in selling either, but if FFP is imminent, they probably will

2. Fulham has invested heavily in their academy, and has a few players who they can flip for small profits- they have good players coming up the pipeline like sessegnon's brother and the 15 yr old wunderkid. when we went down, we had almost no one near the first team in our academy- grego cox, kpekawa, furlong, doughty and petrasso. furlong will be good, but everyone else in that group flopped

3. as the premier league gets flushed with more and more TV money, the parachute payments continue to get bigger, so they'll be coming back down with a bigger safety net

4. they made the stupid decision to bring in so many loan players- chambers, schurrle, the united defender and the athletico madrid player. while all these guys are on high wages now, theyre going to be off the books next year

Wasn't even very good at our level so no surprise he's out of his depth a division higher.
