Coventry are being given a 16pt deduction but are still playing their games as scheduled. So their not really gone are they?
I'm a bit confused by this.
When their name no longer appears in the football league that's when they've gone.
Didn't QPR get threatened with being slung out if they couldn't guarantee they could fulfill their fixxtures for the coming season, hence the insane ABC loan in desperation?
What is going on here?
The football league just seem to handout points deductions now and hope the situation just goes away somehow.

Seems to have changed in England to accepting 'newco' to carry on in place of liquidated club/team. Portsmouth I believe did this.
In Scotland Glasgow Rangers were liquidated and the'newco' then had to apply to be readmitted to the SFL. Since there was no pyramid structure in place then the lowest league they could apply to was SFL 3. Hearts is going to be interesting as there is now a pyramid in place so when/if Hearts go bust (I think it is inevitable) then they may find themselves in the East of Scotland league which would be another rung lower than Rangers were in.
Personally I think when a club overspends to the degree that Rangers and Hearts did thereby financially 'doping' themselves to be much stronger on the pitch then when the money dries up and they have to pay for this period of 'success' I don't think a simple minus 15 point penalty is enough so restarting at the bottom is a serious enough penalty to prevent others from going down this route in future. |  | | |
