The first goal was a shocker. Vale asleep, Morgan doesn't close down effectively and Mbengue wtf?; It looked as if he tried to head backwards up and over the bar when it would have been far simpler just to try and head it back out. In the end he missed it completely.

I think the second came from us expecting a long throw and again being asleep when they threw it short. If anyone was watching the thrower, he gave a massive clue by calling a team mate towards him. I've seen us caught out several times by this switch. We are so busy trying to pick up players around the box that we forget to watch the thrower.

We took a long time to get going, I was fearing another embarrassing hammering. Eventually, late in the first half we managed to turn up.

Four subs at HT and a fifth after an hour a brave and risky move by Julian but necessary to give us the best chance of getting something. We were much better but we're trying to climb the proverbial mountain. If Burrell had managed to score with his header, it might have ended very differently.

Ref was as expected, very quick to blow for any coming together.
