I'm only remotely interested if it results in a reduction of 3 game weeks. We might then have a chance at 12th thus restoring our 6 position buffer to oblivion.
That's too simplistic a view as it also depends on who you're getting those points against. This season QPR are really struggling against teams down the bottom and giving them every opportunity to close the gap and suck us into a relegation battle.
In any event, what happened earlier in the week is history and therefore somewhat irrelevant. It's always about the next game. When you boil it down, we were playing a team second from bottom who hadn't won at home since May. To lose the match and in that fashion was unforgiveable.
I would argue it's more difficult. The team that is leading has the wind in their sails and the team that is behind has to chase the game leaving themselves open to the counter. In any event, the performances either side of half time was chalk and cheese. The team looked fresher, more balanced and more competitive after the changes were made, albeit still a little toothless up front.
I've got a lot of time for Julien but today is squarely on him. To make no changes for the 3rd game in a 3 game week with all that travelling was a schoolboy error. It's no coincidence that the team lost the first half 3-1 yet drew the second 0-0. Another one for the lessons learned log.
Hull turn it around. Coventry turn it around. 'Boro turn it around. Millwall turn it around. Preston turn it around. West Brom turn it around. QPR are not for turning.
Just make the changes and try to get something from the game. Starting with the midfield. So far Mattson and McLean have Madsen and Varane in their pockets.
And quite why Stephan is persisting with shoe horning Field into LB when we have a bonafide LB in Norrington-Davies is beyond me. Julien can solve 2 problems with 1 sub by moving Sam into midfield and bringing ND on for Varane. Round pegs in round holes please.
Then remove the ineffective Dembele for Smyth. After his excellent cameo at Blackburn Paul deserves to play and would provide better defensive cover on that flank. Norwich have been having a field day down our right.
That's your version of events, as spoon fed by the BBC, an organisation that splices videos to suit its agenda.
Look, I get it, history and the odds are not on England's side. So ex-players and England supporters are desperately seeking any kind of edge and are convincing themselves that 'Smith is rattled'. However, I know Aussies well (I have family in Sydney) and their mentality is different gravy. Trust me, they won't be rattled. They love a bit of sledging, especially with 'Poms'. So go ahead, fire your quips in the field and see where that gets you.
