Child poverty 2 child benefit cap abolished
at 22:55 4 Dec 2025

It's not even a nationality thing. For a number of years, possibly decades, there has been a push to ensure that people on low incomes, whether that be social security or menial jobs, get the same financial benefits as anyone else.

That needs to end. Any functional economy needs to reward work, needs to reward self improvement, needs to reward contribution. Otherwise we're basically f*cked. If you're dependent on benefits then yes, you shouldn't be able to afford to enjoy life as much as someone earning a decent full time salary. That's exactly as it should be.

I've worked with people with serious health issues. From brain injury caused disabilities to Dwarfism (that poor sod had to have his back medically broken every couple of years just to stay upright). Any of these people could have chosen to sit on their arses and live off benefits but chose to work instead.

That's the standard that should be set for everyone.

The example I provide may or may not (I leave that up to you to decide) be based on a real example that I know of.

A couple. Both non-UK citizens. In council housing. One has been deemed not fit for work or work related activity. The other, as a result, is a full time carer. Two children. In the interests of fairness I have calculated that neither child receives DLA.

£2177.96 per month in Universal Credit.
£187.63 in Child Benefit.
£138.49 in Council Tax benefit.
£830.13 in PIP.

That's £3,334.21 monthly in benefits for people who have never contributed into the tax system. Considerably more than most people in this area earn working full time. This is unsustainable and morally reprehensible.

If people realised that the modern left would quite happily dispense with democracy altogether as long as their sort of people were in charge then they'd never get a sniff of power again.

We see it in the power structures of the EU. The entire thing was designed to restrict the amount of power your average Joe/Jean/Jan/Giuseppe in the street actually had. They could nominally vote for their direct representative thus maintaining the illusion of democracy, but actual power was always intended to lie in the hands of the Commissioners. Political appointees answerable to nobody.

To people like this your average person is scum. The "basket of deplorables". "Gammon". "Racist". "Thicky Brexit voters". The rise of nationalist and right wing movements across Europe, desperately smeared as "Nazi" or "Far Right" by the same people despite the majority of the views espoused actually being quite mainstream until relatively recently, would suggest that their time is nearly done.

They're also trying their best to subvert democracy by postponing elections. Elections that they're likely to lose.

It always used to be the case that Tories were brought down by sexual scandals whilst Labour members were usually done for corruption.

I note the howls of protest that have been generated by Christopher Harbourne's recent donation to Reform by people who were, shall we say, oddly quiet about Dale Vince shovelling millions towards Labour. No prizes for guessing who got most return on their investment.

A vote for Labour or Plaid is a vote for stuff like this to keep happening.

I suspect we're in a similarish situation to the one we found ourselves in between 2016 and 2019. Well meaning but largely clueless about football American owners happy to provide funding but at the mercy of people they trust to know about football but might be a teensy bit full of shit.

Different because other clubs shouldn't be allowed to benefit from taxpayer support but we can?

So it's ok when we benefit from public funding, but others shouldn't? That's basically what you're saying.

It'd be interesting to see the figures, but I'd expect the local authority in Wrexham is quite happy with the increase in tourist spending and footfall as a result.

£18 Million

We're playing in a taxpayer funded £25m stadium that we didn't pay for and earned hundreds of millions from a stint in the Premier League that it arguably provided the platform to achieve.

I understand the outrage on this call but it probably shouldn't be coming from us.

If it is the latter then there's no way that the story will go away. Badenoch will keep hammering at it and finding a receptive audience.

Strong rumours that the owners of the Ospreys have been talked into buying Cardiff from the WRU and therefore the Ospreys will be no more.

Nobody in their right mind does.

The Far Left has always been the preserve of of egotistical lunatics. We can only be thankful that there's no real prospect of pepple like that ever holding real power or the mass graves would be dug, just as they are whenever these types are in charge.

It must be killing Corbyn that the party he started doesn't want him as leader, or that the Greens are now the "mainstream" left wing option despite being no less mental.

Similar stuff happening with Corbyn's latest wheeze today.

Seriously, the extreme left are the source of some of the finest political comedy available today. Too busy arguing amongst themselves about who is the most politically "pure" to ever be remotely capable of forming even a hapless Government, never mind a capable one.

The Greens have avoided a lot of this on social media, but if the mainstream news was even remotely capable these days the Tit Hypnotist would be a figure of national fun.

Not that long ago people were praising Montague for the transfer window we had.

The basic reality seems to be that nobody has the first idea who is responsible for what so they'd probably embarass themselves less if they refrained from confidently apportioning blame for anything.

Fairly obvious that Matos needs to get his preferred coaching staff in and working ASAP.

There is a tendency for people to think that poor performances automatically equate to poor players. They do this because it's both fun and easy to slag players off.

They ignore the too numerous to count examples of when players have turned things around when properly organised. Hell, it happened to us almost instantaneously last season when we finally booted Williams.

I've seen green shoots in the way we've started games since Matos took over, but it's going to take some work to stretch that out to 90 minute performances. As a club we owe it to him to make that process as easy as possible.

WBA are kicking lumps out of anyone tricker than them. Franco, Inoussa and Eom taking a battering so far. Going to be a bit scrappy unless we can create more space.

Inventing financial "black holes" so they can whack taxes up seems to be a recurring theme of this Government.

People fell for it the first time so I guess you can't really be surprised if they try it again, especially when there were no consequences for their lie the first time around.
