QPR continue to slide as Saints set off on new march – Report
at 20:20:47

The opposition always do their homework, and what they have found is that JS effectively plays the same set up, formation and tactics in every match. He doesn’t seem to vary them, and has no Plan B, it’s the same old same old. As a result we are very easy to play against. Although what we also have to take into consideration is that whilst our squad on paper looks actually quite good, a number of our recent signings have never played at Championship level, and a manager that has never managed in the Championship. Therefore at times we are weak and naive.

It was certainly a better performance against Southampton than Ipswich, but we are so wasteful. When are we ever going to learn with set pieces. Most of our corners and free kicks are woeful. Yet when we’re on the other end of them we can’t defend, and the ball ends up in the back of our own net (example Ipswich). I’m not sure what the solution is, and doubt if JS knows either. The next few games will be crucial and if there is no improvement and we start slipping down the table, I could see a change of manager on the cards. I hope this is not the case as I quite like JS, and really want him to succeed.

Town’s four-star Halloween fright night leaves Rangers reeling – Report
at 22:19:03

It was fairly obvious from the team selection that we were going to be in for a tough afternoon. Esquerdinha was totally out of his depth, and should have been pulled at half time, or maybe before. Why ND didn’t start is a mystery, and also why Mbengue, Saito and Smyth were on the bench. Arguably 3 of the 4 goals could have been prevented. Awful defending, but also when you have Nardi in goal it doesn’t bode well for a solid defensive unit. I’m just wondering if we should consider actually using Ben Harmer. He may not have played much in recent times, but has loads of experience. I have a lot of admiration for Steve Cook, but he should definitely be rested as he is now just too slow for this level. I’ve been very supportive of JS up till now, but he got the selection and tactics totally wrong for Ipswich. Unfortunately my doubts are starting to creep in.

Millwall deliver QPR’s latest reality check – Report
at 19:36:50

After watching Frey’s snail like performance you do wonder why players that can’t run are recruited in the first place. No one would expect him to have the blistering pace of Burrell, there aren’t too many players that have that, but watching him chase balls that he hasn’t a cats chance in hell of getting was pitiful. So playing him alongside Kone a player I really like, but is also short on pace, was not very logical. Where was Kolli. At least that boy can shift.
We didn’t get a grip of the midfield all afternoon. I’d consider dropping Varane and bringing back Field, and see how gets on alongside Madsen. Overall the reason we lost against Millwall was mainly team selection, but also the fact that as always, we created plenty of chances but failed to take them. Ironically whilst we now have the best forward options for many years, I think scoring enough goals this season could be our downfall.

Overtaking National Express coaches – Report
at 12:38:33

The trouble with supporting QPR is you never know which team is going to turn up. Just when you think we’re on the up we regress into a team of clueless amateurs. I mean one shot on target all night, come on. I suppose in mitigation Julien is still finding his best combinations, but clearly won’t go with Frey / Kone and Field / Hayden pairings again. The one player I felt we missed most was Illias Chair. At his best he would have at least given us some progressive midfield. I look forward to his return as soon as possible. Still early days I guess, but it’s so frustrating watching matches like this. On one positive note I did think that Steve Cook put in a really good shift, and was effective defensively and going forward. Given his age - a great professional.

Stoke's issues with Vale continue as QPR make it three from three – Report
at 12:58:53

Great game. Great atmosphere. Great win. If we can keep up the momentum then we could have a a very good season. When you consider we still have Chair, JCS and Poku to come back, the overall squad looks very solid for the first time in many years. I was going to give my MotM to Vale, but that fantastic goal line clearance at the end edged it for me in Morrison’s favour. He was excellent throughout. As for Vale’s goal- “unbelievable”. Even the celebration was in the same Zamora corner of the pitch. Happy days!

Out of the darkness – Report
at 13:01:20

Thank goodness we abandoned the playing out from the back. Playing it long may not be the prettiest style of football, but we just haven’t got the players to execute precise passing particularly with Walsh in goal. Yet at times against Charlton some of our play was exhilarating, but also infuriating as well. In the end though it didn’t mater as we scored 3 great goals and got 3 points. Notable mentions to Saito, Kone and Smith who were all great. Even Madsen was quite good as well. On paper it now looks like we have a very decent squad with some excellent signings. Only time will tell, but I’m starting to feel just a little more confident that we might just have a decent season once everyone’s up to speed.

Preston make their point as QPR run out of puff – Report
at 13:30:04

Whilst there were some very promising performances, I can’t help thinking that this was a wasted opportunity to get 3 points. Preston were poor last season, and are expected to struggle this season as well. If we could have kept up the momentum in the first half I think we could have won, but we just seemed to run out of steam. Like a hangover from last season, we honestly didn’t look capable of scoring, and the curse of injuries looks to have returned again. Celar once again didn’t contribute anything, and our other striker options as it stands doesn’t fill me with any confidence. That said perhaps Burrell could be ok, as he did at least look as if he had something about him.

However there were definitely some positives to take away. Dembele, Poku and Mbengue all caught the eye. Get in a decent striker who can actually score goals, and hope we can stay relatively free of injuries, then we might have at least a half decent season.

QPR trounced in final home game as Burnley run riot - Report
at 14:48:24

Burnley were everything we’re not. They were fitter, stronger, faster and had more skill and vision. They looked a real team, whilst we looked a complete shambles. From what I saw I think they will do ok in the Premiership.

I wasn’t impressed with Nardi. I’m not saying he was entirely at fault for each goal, but he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory nor has done throughout the season. Maybe it’s time to give Joe Walsh a chance in goal, and get a few quid for Nardi. It’ll be really interesting to see all the ins and outs this summer, but hopefully Marti won’t be one of them.

More injuries and home woes for QPR against form Swans – Report
at 20:54:52

That referee should be struck off after that abomination. I did laugh though at some of the rubbish amateur dramatics of the Swansea players acting as if they’d almost died from a sudden seizure.
As a club we must do everything we can to keep Marti! It would be very easy to throw criticism at his door after another dire performance, but the reality is with the injuries and suspect recruitment he’s had to endure, he’s performed miracles.

Relaxed, rejuvenated Rangers make their point against City – Report
at 14:38:42

There were some good moves and intelligent play in the first half, particularly the build up to the excellent goal. It seemed that Marti was effectively playing a 3-3-3-1, which benefited the team we had to scratch together. Madsen at last showing some potential. It would be good to get a few more points on the board from the next 4 games, and finish the season strongly. What then happens over the course of the summer is anyone’s guess.

Fast start meets fraught end in the battle of logic versus vibes - Report
at 21:28:24

Before the match I would definitely have taken a point. I doubt anyone expected us to get anything from the game. Some very good performances out there. I have to say that everyone gave 100% (with the exception of Madsen of course, even though he was only on for 6 minutes), and were arguably unlucky not to get a win. I do think though at times Paal is increasingly becoming a liability. I hope we can get a replacement left back for next season.

However, of most concern is the increasing numbers of injuries again, and now with Saito’s suspension as well, I think I might just bring my boots with me for the next one in case.

The hand of fortune – Report
at 15:08:00

I was very impressed by Edward’s performance. He was solid at the back, but loved his runs with the ball further upfield. Brilliant stuff! Highly unlikely we’ll be able to retain him, so best just enjoy while we can. Chair seems to be finally getting back to form, and shame he couldn’t convert one of his many shots into a goal. 13th in the table but only 3 points off the play off’s - as ever the Championship is a crazy league.

Sun sets on QPR’s winning run as Rohl triumphs once more – Report
at 22:06:43

Don’t know why Paal is suddenly taking all the corners and free kicks. Most of them pretty poor apart from the one that hit the woodwork. I’d prefer Chair was the taker, although I do accept he wasn’t always that great at it in the past. I thought Marti took a bit too long to get the subs on. They were about to come on at roughly 60 minutes, but he hesitated and delayed it for around another 10. Having said that none of them particularly covered themselves in glory. Overall I think we deserved to have got at least a point from this game, but given the run we’ve been on, it was inevitable it would be halted at some point.

Three and easy night – Report
at 10:06:28

We may have had some luck with the goals, but a thoroughly deserved win. The Frey goal you could argue it was ball to hand / arm, but probably would have been chalked off with VAR. The Morgan Fox goal was hilarious. I was laughing as much as celebrating. I loved the Alfie Lloyd “cameo”, but surely he deserved more than the 6 you gave him Clive? Kieran Morgan’s man of the match was fully justified. What a talent at such a young age. If he develops at the same pace we could have a very valuable asset.

New Year’s Frey delight for resurgent Rangers – Report
at 10:46:59

A great way to celebrate the New Year. Once Watford got back to 2-1 it certainly started to become a bit more tense, but credit to all the lads for getting the third and sealing the win. Some really great performances on the pitch. When you consider how many players we’ve had out through injury and players coming back from injury, I’d say it’s great credit not only to the players, but particularly to Marti and his coaching team that we are where we now are. That was an impressive attendance - 17,268. Considering the ridiculously early start, with many of us nursing hangovers, it would have been easier to stay in and watch it on Sky in the dry and warm. Did anyone else get caught in that Monsoon whilst walking to the ground?

Field the world, lets them know it’s Rangers’ time – Report
at 21:37:46

Glad I could stay awake for the second half. Couple of great goals for Sam Field. As much as I like him as Central Defensive Midfielder, I’ve often felt he’s actually more effective playing further up the pitch, and in doing I doing so often produces goals. Although it’s then the dilemma, certainly at the moment, of who partners Varane. Anyway 3 wins and 2 draws in 5, and 4 successive clean sheets. This is certainly now moving in the right direction. Once we can get back all the injured players, could we become a force to be reckoned with. I don’t think so, but what it will do is make us much more competitive, and I can see that we will continue to slowly climb up the table.

QPR finally taste home victory as Norwich suffer Kolli-wobble – Report
at 19:39:27

About time - but was worth waiting for the win. 3 goals and a clean sheet- what’s not to like. The ref was awful he unnecessarily slowed the game down particularly in the first half, and made some strange decisions and errors. Rayan Kolli was great. He has tremendous pace, far better than Celar and Frey, and two great finishes for the goals. Surely he will now start against Oxford, particularly as Celar I believe could have a torn hamstring, and Frey probably not quite ready.

Kolli was originally my man of the match until I heard that Jimmy Dunne’s father had sadly died during the week. Jimmy also played tremendously well, particularly that clearance he made to deny Norwich a goal. Therefore Jimmy gets my nomination and my condolences!

Celar's deepening nightmare leaves QPR well adrift – Report
at 21:40:55

Where we sit, everyone around was aghast that Celar was going to take the penalty. We all predicted he would miss, and obviously he did. Surely Marti must leave him on the bench for Cardiff. Alfie Lloyd showed more passion and movement in the 20 odd minutes he was on the field than Celar has all season.

As for the speculation around Marti being sacked, firstly I think this would be a huge mistake. We have had so many injuries that any manager and team would be affected, and struggling to find form and gain points. The people who run this club need to look at themselves. Secondly what decent manager in their right mind would want to take us on right now.

Bonfire of the vanities – Report
at 14:37:41

There are some calls for Marti to now go, but that will not solve the underlying problem which is poor recruitment. In any case, what sane manager would want to take on this team of useless, lazy incompetents. We are often told that it can take time for players to adjust to the competitiveness and physicality of the championship, but it’s clear that some of the recruits (Madsen, Celar, Santos etc) were never going to be good enough. They may have done well at their previous clubs albeit in inferior leagues, but they are just not going to cut it in the Championship. The lesson in all this is that cheap recruitments from overseas are rarely going to give value for money, and is therefore a false economy, no matter what the stats and data might say. We might have financial constraints, but with proven Championship players at least you know what you are getting.
