I simply can't wait to see what they've got planned for the closing ceremony!

Out of interest: What are the commentators saying wherever you're watching this on the Planet?

If only....

Look at the boats dome of the small bations are struggling up the Seine in. Gabon just got mugged off!!

I hope Team GB come up in a flotilla of small boats to recreate the Dunkirk spirit and put some oomph in to it.

Some people have paid €1k to attend this. They've been mugged off.

It's chucking it down, and unless you're watching it on tele, you're missing the 'showy' bits. Seems a load of ol' merde and not a patch on 2012.

That train runs between Bordeaux and Marseille, picking Mrs PH and myself up at the halfway point should we be going east or west.

It's an old piece of kit, fit for the knackers yard. However, my beef with it is its world-class ability to be perpetually late! Its really a come-to-Jesus moment to arrive at the station and not see 'Retard' beside the hopeful arrival time.

I know yesterday's delay experienced was due to vandalism, but when we got to the station, we weren't the only ones huffing until the reason was explained.

Never a truer word.

I worked at the 1991 World Championships in Perth. Fook my boots, you'd think the future of 'stralia depended upon it.

Lots of coordinated acts on the rail network this morning.

We were delayed yesterday, missing our connecting train in Bordeaux, because of vandalism on the line near Montpellier. Today, its worse as more atracks on the day lots of French people also go on their holidays.

My money is on Putin. Last week France extradited some Russians.

'B.llocks' conveys something isn't quite right shall we say. Whereas, 'its the b.llocks' implies perfection.

Bienvenue mes amis!

Will be glued to the screen for the next few weeks, watching anything and everything. The Olympics are my favourite sporting event ever since I got hooked on the 1972 games.

Arrived in Paris yesterday. Amazing to see so many French people smiling, being polite, and offering service without the Gallic shrug of indifference!

I know Derby is up next week, anyone else visiting? If so, lets reserve tables at the Georges V and push on from there.

Allez les Brits!!

Edit: weather not looking good for the OC tonight.

Ahh I see, you need it explained to you.

Do you remember when all those Tories that lost their seats suddenly went from singing from the Rishi hymnsheet to berating the party on the night or, when SKS was praising Corbyn before the previous election and dropped it soon after or, worse, Republican Nikki Haley one minute praising Trumpet, then tucking into him, before another 180 to start praising him.

In fact, I recall Trumpet calling a presser in the WH, with all the Secretaries of State speaking one after the other on how great he was, only to then say he wasn't once they left office.

There are countless other examples. Hence the phrase, towing the party line. Trumpet as I recall was famous for saying how 'great, totally great' people were in his cabinet, only to then say they were shite after he sacked them.

Capeesh?

We were on fire tgat night at Highbury, too.

Worse still, I was playing football during the away leg, and on the sidelines was a Polish lad who kept shouting out the score, with ever growing glee. Which prompted ten blokes on my side, and the oppo's 11, to collectively phish themselves when PB scored their fourth!

All your country's problems can be traced back to an ill conceived night of treachery on 16 December 1773. Instead of keeping calm and putting the kettle on to make a nice cup of tea, you've been over-stimulated on quick-fix caffeine, and frequently, poor coffee at that.

Pithyness aside, my American family cast envious eyes at how the UK recently handled its power transition. Took five weeks to decide - not two years and billions - and once done, the reins were handed over in an hour or so, not three months, and without acrimony or a shot being fired.

I said it either here or on another thread, I'd be surprised if there isn't civil unrest after the outcome in November. The extreme disparity in reaction says a lot, and given Trumpet's spoilt brat response to losing last time, he needs to be 'managed' now! Oh, and when you hear certain sections of American society talk about 'Gaaard', they're every bit as extreme as the religious nutters they pillory in other countries.

Upshot - no pun intended - I think you might need to keep indoors, your head down on 6 November, and stay safe.

Just finished 'Coffeeland' by Augustine Sedgewick.

True story of how a bloke from Manchester played an integral role in El Salvador's coffee industry; its effect on the people of that country; resulting revolutions; and the US' obsession with defeating communism by suppression of workers' rights through its foreign and economic policy intrusions.

All linked to maximising profits from what we pay for coffee. Some clever analysis on how the work put in to yield a pound of coffee results in additional productivity elsewhere.
