North London Half
at 14:25 13 Mar 2015

Spare a thought through your hangovers on Sunday morning for those of us who have got out of bed early to run the North London Half marathon, from the Saracens Allianz stadium in Copthall in Barnet down to Wembley. We run through Wembley Stadium - looking forward to some Bobby Zamora-driven memories there - then back up to the Allianz Stadium for the finish. Never run this far before in my life (now early 50s) but decided to have a go at doing something healthy for a change, rather than just shout at the linesman.

Anyone else having a go?

Phrases you really hate
at 10:25 27 Aug 2014

There are some phrases football seems littered with with make no sense at all and are just irritating as a result. My latest hate is the phrase 'tried to play in the right way' and variations on that theme. As if anyone sets out to play in the wrong way, and what exactly is the 'right' way anyway? It's just hot-air b*llocks to fill some time on the TV, and to save whoever's said it from actually thinning about what they're going to say.

What other phrases p*ss people off?

Adelusion

From the 10 talking points in the Guardian - even as a fan of his, this is pretty funny description of Taarabt:

'Adelusion, a condition whereby sufferers remain convinced, even with mounting evidence to the contrary, that the answer to the question "how are we going to score goals in the Premier League?" is "by signing a meandering, brilliantly talented Moroccan who's very good at dribbling with his head down".'

Peaky Blinders

Did anyone else watch this last night? I thought it was good - Murphy and Neill were excellent, and while at first I thought the modern music was anachronistic it actually worked. Not sure about the gratuitous appearance of Birmingham FC in the pub but apart from that it was terrific. A BBC take on Deadwood, or maybe Boardwalk EMpire.

Mclaren

The club's little video of players having their official photos taken shows Shteve in Dennis the Menace kit having his pic taken with them. Two thoughts: that's good news, I'm glad he's doing that, seem like he's sticking around. He seems to have a positive affect on how we play.

Oh and he's small!

Old days

Love being in the Premier League. Love seeing great players out on the pitch for us, the likes of Taarabt, Remy, etc. Love the atmosphere at HQ when it boils up, like against Chelsea.

BUT

miss having these guys, and their evident love for the club, out there at 3pm on a Saturday

Training Ground
at 17:03 22 Mar 2013

Following a link on the latest minutes from the fan groups meeting with the Club I found a pile of stuff online about the training ground, much more than I'd seen before. There's some designs and other visuals on there. My favourite is the scene outside the training club with a gathering of fans waving QPR flags and even flying a QPR kite. Change the flags for pitchforks and they could have been storming the place ...
