Online therapy sessions to deal with anger issues with results and certain (unnamed) players and staff and fans and poor communications and pitches and referees and … geez I’ve hit on a need here!

Keep the ball down!!
at 10:22 8 Apr 2026

This goes along with passing behind a player going forward.

Happens way to often - play the ball in front of the man so he can take it in his stride FFS. You pass it behind and you lose a few precious seconds while he has to collect and turn around to go forward (or pass back again!).

Next season’s central midfield two.
at 09:04 7 Apr 2026

We need more quality in the midfield - with good options. It definitely doesn’t feel like we have the right type of players in the middle yet.
I’m afraid Hayden and Varane aren’t that in this set-up and Varane feels too expensive as an ‘option’ player and makes some glaring mistakes alongside his preference for a go-to back pass. Morgan has improved a little this season, which is good to see but he’s not there yet and is more like our ‘option’ player. Madsen works but we need someone of quality beside him who can both create and defend. Depends what the budget is I guess.

Great to have such an upbeat feeling after the poor run - seems so long ago.

RND
at 14:17 5 Apr 2026

It does seem a bit bizarre to be outlining issues with RND that either aren’t accurate based on this season (fitness) or we don’t know about (salary).
If he is rolling into his last year at SU then he has a decision to make I guess. Either way he’s facing a new club somewhere shortly down the line.
One very good point is how he fits with the clubs strategy of buy, develop and sell. But I don’t see how that can apply to every position, so sometimes it’s good to keep someone like RND for now (if we can).

RND
at 09:41 5 Apr 2026

He’s had a good season with us and there’s a lot to like about his play and decisions in game. As a signing he’s a conundrum. We clearly have Esquardina who still isn’t ready for a season, and Larkeche (?). Neither will match RND’s performances for next season if things remain the same.
Another year on loan wouldn’t be a bad thing, while our own two (plus another prospect?) gain more experience. If we are going to move forward next season I think we would do well to have RND there in our settling back line.
Either way, that position needs attention and some decision making if we want to better this season.

Kone
at 09:38 4 Apr 2026

As many point out Kone has his areas he needs to improve on (first touch control, control running with the ball, additional pace would be good areas).

That said his work rate is first class, no wonder he looks shattered, and he plays game after game that way. He has some great flick-ons which the likes of Burrell, Kolli and Smyth/Vale make good use of. He’s a handful for defenders and I’m sure they don’t look forward to playing him - he does enjoy baiting them with his occasional combative approach to get under their skin too - just what we want to see.

And how often do we see him back in defence helping out. Not just being a body on the box but getting tackles in (not always polished I’ll agree) and headers away.

He does a lot of very good things, with some good coaching and more games I think we’ll see more good to come from this young man (23/24?). He’s taken his step up well.

Friday's referee
at 09:03 4 Apr 2026

I thought the ref was really poor. He lost control of the game early and caused his own problems. You could see Pollock was going for Kolli in the first minute - a word in his ear could have calmed the niggles. He gave at least two cards under the influence of Watford players - weak. The Smyth slip was unfortunate and not a card - that sort of thing just riles players.

Smyth for me. His goals were at key pars of the game. He’s tenacious and presses hard. He had a terrific game. Just edges it for me.

Plaudits for Kone, two goals and worked hard for 90 mins; Kolli had two nice goals and after his first goal picked up his work rate and contribution; Vale I thought had a slow start and picked up too - he’s a difficult player to gauge as his contribution is often missed (I’m as culpable as anyone).

Great that we have to debate a choice!

Ben Williams on Open All Hours Podcast Tonight.
at 08:35 21 Mar 2026

Haven’t listened to the podcast as I don’t think I have the willpower to listen to Ben as he isn’t my favourite player.

Mr Williams clearly has a wealth of data at his fingertips yet only focuses on ONE data stat to claim/prove to fans he is effectively doing his job so well. If he was he could have reeled out a number of other supportive info. If he’s doing a good job one would assume that others aren’t by definition. So who is going to pay the price for two seasons of poor player fitness and the plethora of injuries?

I too would have been interested in his body language. If he isn’t used to interviewing I would expect he would be displaying a lot of ‘tells’.

At the end of the day you can’t pull the wool over the eyes of the fans (nor the manager who keeps telling us we are limited due to injuries - we know JS, we are with you).
TRUE - we have a ton of injuries
TRUE - we have had a lot of hamstring injuries
TRUE - players lack pace and stamina, you don’t need to measure it, you can see it
TRUE - we don’t have our best 11 players on the pitch for each position! 100% of the season.
TRUE - the pitch looks awful, just look down Ellerslie. WTF. If it’s due to rain why are you spraying it with something so bad? Just what you need is a road cyclist fitness/data guru sorting our pitch. VFM?
TRUE - you’re not doing your job well Ben - it’s a results business
TRUE - you can pull the wool over a few in the boardroom but you can’t do it to 1000’s of fans

If he stays, we get more of the same. We have restructured the academy, good job! Next project to restructure the elite performance and fitness team fit for a football club.

It’s his own fault apparently for running on the good side of the pitch using the leg that the performance team told him he shouldn’t use under any circumstances, however he’s fine to play!

Something is fundamental wrong with Rangers!
at 08:13 5 Mar 2026

With all respect, I can’t agree with all of that JC.

We do have some good players, who probably/possibly want to be great players, those types don’t take days off - especially when backs are against the wall. We know who those players are, we’ve had them in the past. We don’t have many of them now.

These are privileged sportsmen. Paid extortionate money to be sportsmen (while many other sports people have to fight for funding to keep being a top level athlete). Footballers will get little sympathy from me. How many times do we hear about crossing the white line when responsibility begins - the manager may get it wrong but the player is responsible when on the pitch. Leaders step up, communicate and give 90 minutes they’re all. Then they can take time off.

It’s been tough with the injuries, no doubt about it. Kone still coming out strapped up and putting in a shift - he may not be 100% but you can see he’s trying. If there’s a problem on the pitch the players need to react, speak to their coach for in game changes. It’s a team sport.

There’s no doubt all managers make mistakes. They are also always the first person blamed and sacked. I get it, the easy/only option. But we all know it’s rarely the solution or silver bullet. We (most clubs) just rinse and repeat until they get lucky.

We’re in a tough period of the season, it will improve. Thankfully we’re not fighting a relegation battle with the squad in its current state.

Our ‘goal’ today….why was it disallowed?
at 14:31 1 Mar 2026

That was my immediate first thought on seeing the replay from the linos view Streatham. When you see it from another view/angle it’s not quite as simple, seemed he fell into the goal with minimum contact from Smyth - looked like the usual push and pull that is sadly allowed to go on by refs these days.

The problem is injuries - for two seasons now we’ve had this. Deal with the problem and give the coach and the players the best opportunity to be the best they are.

Surely that’s not rocket science. Sort out the problem QPR board. This performance team has had two seasons now and managed to provide a slow start and a nigh on impossible finish to the season.

Time for a new performance team Lee and Christian. What is the data telling you?? Where are the best fitness coaches in this league or league 2. Time to do the homework and sort it out by the end of the season so the new team are ready for pre-season.

If you don’t, then expect more of the same next season.
And don’t expect to have your best assets fit to sell on to make your/the strategy work.

Positive takes from the day only THREAD
at 09:37 1 Mar 2026

1: Kone. Worked hard despite being heavily strapped up. He has improvements to make but he could have sat back wuite easily in this game and didn’t. Big heart.

2: Walsh showing Varane how to pass the ball forward and create an attacking situation after Varane passed the ball backwards with all 9 other players ahead of him (ok, I did sneak in a negative there too - sorry)

3: Mbengue improved us coming on. So did Smyth to a lesser extent. Hayden played better in his short period than all of time at Southampton.

4: Morgan not accepting the fore-arm lock from behind by SU player and giving him some back.

Agree Bongo. His body language and way he responds shows, for the first time publicly, his inner frustration(s). JS has done an admirable job protecting his teams, and the club, but he’s pushing water uphill at the moment. Two bad team performances in a row has hit fans hard and JS too - I think we all expected more from the players in that first 45 minutes.

We didn’t get it and we don’t see any players coming out, stepping up and saying what they need to do to get through this period of weakness through injuries. I said elsewhere that I was disappointed in JD after the first goal went in, his head was down and he needed a captain to pick him up - except he IS the captain and he needs to lead this team. I’m a big fan of Jimmy but he really needs to lead this team on the pitch right now. I get it’s a young team and we won’t have a depth of experience to deal with this type of situation, it’s really tough; but as the saying goes “when the going gets tough …”
