He would not be the first or the last professional footballer to blow up on the way down, his whole life will have been about getting to and staying at the top, then he loses that edge and is not player he was and can ever be again, for many sportsman that is really hard to deal with especially so when you are that high profile.

I had skin cancer, melanoma on my back, spotted by GP when going for antibiotics for chest infection on the Monday afternoon. Had Images taken for AI scan on the Saturday, had it cut out the following Friday. A week later they called me (I was away with work) asking me to come in two days later, went the following week diagnosed with cancer stage 0. A week later a further op to cut skin around the area.

Went from issue spotted to diagnosis to discharge in under 4 weeks.

Be careful what you wish for. I have private health as well through work, great for minor stuff and getting access to a consultant (usually NHS working on off hours) but the important stuff NHS is amazing. I could not have done it quicker with private

Champs league final

Only saw from the 2nd half once I worked out it was on HBO Max but IMHO Arsenal got what they deserved never tried to win it once PSG equalised and PSG were pretty poor anyway.

Next season's odds
at 19:58 26 May 2026

As soon as the relegation odds come out, Southampton to be relegated is a smart bet in my view club will implode over the summer and maybe more points deduction to come.

West Ham will either win the league or plummet as well. Sullivan is going to be tried for rape and ground is going to work against them.

Summer transfer rumours 2026
at 14:40 23 May 2026

If I was in charge of transfers these would be my "rules of thumb"

1. Never sign defensive players from relegated teams it never ends well, and those teams were relegated for a reason
2. Players over 30, If pace or stamina were a key part of their game avoid, they will be in decline. Buy leaders and players who never had pace in the first place
3. Beware senior players taking a step down what is their motivation
4. A player on a Bosman who ran his contract down to get a move with a big sell on will do the same to you. Money is their only motivation
5. Never buy someone on a 6 month stellar spell especially strikers 2 or 3 seasons consistent at a lower level will be a better marker than a 20 goal six month spell
6. If buying a player who does not speak English, you need to buy them a friend who speaks their language and English

Fan sites meeting with Christian Nourry
at 19:06 18 May 2026

Replace the word QPR with Labour Party, replace the name Nourry with Starmer and replace every QPR player with a labour politician form the last 30 - 40 years and this could be a thread on the Labour Party message board.

Honestly who gives a flying f who was there or not. So what if Matt Winton is there he goes on podcasts he is an influencer in the QPR sphere, I'm interested in his views as someone who has actually been involved in the running of a football club he has insight in the same way I would be if it was Jim Frayling. Seems to me to have as much right as Mike "QPR Report" who has been trolling his way with cut and paste and quote retweeting on QPR social and forums fsince the internet was invented.

Surely it's about the substance, policy, decisions etc CEO is never going to come out and say oh yeah that went wrong because employee Bob royally fcuked up. We can disagree and debate about decisions, strategy and tactics without getting into a whole thing about who gets to ask the questions or give an opinion.

Tbf and I've been on this forums as long as Mike, Dave B and others I can't remember a time when we knew so much about the inner workings of the club

There is another reality that's coming up the path quicker then you think which is the impact of AI and the latest robots on the labour market the whole tax and benefit system will need to be re thought at the momemt its hitting many of those jobs that have been outsourced to India and the far east but its coming for the middle classes accountants, lawyers, marketing etc its making resources more expensive and labour expendable. Problem is these are not issues that can be easily dealt with by nation states. The reality is we are going to need to be in a block to have any leverage. There is huge opportunity but huge danger too for complete self destruction. Going back into Europe is going to be inevitable

Agree with a lot of that, how I dont agree all capital is mobile much of it is not and assets of the rich need to be considered because what is being taken out at the top. To do anything the first thing we need to be doing is taking in more than we spend so we are not in hock to the bond markets.

Wealth creation needs to be encouraged, but excessive wealth creation needs to be curtailed and there are options for wealth tax. We have companies now richer than most countiries and that is really unhealthy. Would also like to see some attempt to tax digital advertising i.e Facebook, Google, YouTube at point of charge.

LB member i.e I pay my subs to have a vote but that's all and I have had a little bit of an inside track over the years, as a family member worked both for Blair pre and post 97 then for Corbyn (now working for Polanski)

So here is the crux, the same issue affects the Tories. The political system we have in this country is designed for two large parties that are broad churches. However the reality is that there are probably 4 or 5 factions in each party that disagree about a lot of things with each other. Only when there is a big and popular character that is able to a) carry the public and b) cherry pick policies from each faction does it hold together and you get a viable government. Without that the factions hate each other more than they hate the opposition, and in the bubble they lose all sense of reality or cohesive vision that whether you have two big broad parties or lots of smaller ones with their own names and leaders you have to build and hold a coalition to be able to govern and that requires compromise.

When you get a tyranny of the minority either within a party or in a government it will fall apart pretty quickly especially if that leader loses popularity.

Ultimately what we have here is that Starmer did not widen his coalition and is not a strong enough character to carry it and communicate it. It creates a vacuum and everyone gets purist rather than being pragmatic.

Burnham is the only really viable option I can see for Labour. Bottom line is the hands are tied of whoever gets in (be it party or individual) because Covid and Ukraine have put us so in debt that the bond markets can put a stranglehold on policy.

Got to be gutted if your Millwall, manager lost them the game, excuses before the start about the travel back from the first leg being away, then with the subs changed the formation Doughty and Bannon terrible, team practically gave up after the first goal.

One thing you have to say for Hull they are bloody fit. Can see it being one of those seasons where Boro beat Southampton and Hull go up and post one of the lowest prem points totals

Club confirm Hamer, Nardi, Hayden departs...
at 20:54 5 May 2026

I thought Nardi was excellent for the first half of his first season and by then teams had learnt to pump in crosses and he had a poor second half of the season. Wish them all the best but I think its for the best

I'm with you I really like the Kid, comes across well, interacts with the fans and takes responsibility. He does have a fitness issue that is clear, and huge ambition. IMHO we look a better side with him in it than not. I guess we dont know what we dont know, but it will be a shame I would really like him to push on with us

Agree, I like Field, but boy is he a slow starter every year, he was abject in pre and early season, and with a new manager coming in the first impression would not have been great. When Cifuentes came in it was November which is normally when Field hits his stride.

I think we knew Hayden was off at the Swansea game, when he phoned in a pretty unprofessional performance IMHO he talked a good leadership game but I dont think I've seen it this season, tbh honest I expected more from him, so I think its right to move on and hopefully make space for an experienced midfield leader.

If you were CEO what would you do?
at 18:13 2 May 2026

I would not just tear it up we have made some progress.

Sports Science needs a review and an overhaul

Review the value all these specialist coaches are bringing, Set Pieces have been poor, defence is poor goalkeepers have all gone backwards

Sell Varane, If an offer comes in for Burell, Kone or Kolli and its decent enough take it and reinvest

Find a way to shift on Celar and any other deadwood

Look for some fairly low cost or Bosman experienced championship players with leadership qualities

Address the full back situation even if it means taking a prem loan

I thought the first one I would expect to be keepers but JCS was in the way which tells a story in itself, the 3rd a top goalkeeper holds. His distribution today was rank and put us in trouble a lot. He saved shots he should save.

I was always willing to give him the season, and we have done that and I dont think he is good enough. Is he one of the the top 50 keepers playing in the English leagues, I dont see it.

So a few thoughts

Nothing new here to see today, same old faults same old issues. Lost the game in the first 10 minutes Varane having an awful game Morgan looking a little lost, Poor at right back, and the first goal JCS should be nowhere near that as that has to be keepers ball 2nd one Chair loses it but there is still a lot for them to do and all far to easy and we have to do better. Once we settled we got into the game but final ball letting it down again not causing much threat, and when we do get a chance.

Things I really dont want to see again.

Joe Walsh - Sorry, he's had the full season not taken the chance not good enough shot stopping, not good enough distribution, can't go another season with him, dont think there's much money in developing keeps anyway

Jonathan Varane - Personally I'm done with him, you could see the player he might be, but its does not look to be happening to me, if we can get that St Ettiene money, then take it, one of the biggest disappointments of the season

Mbengue First choice Right back - Not for me not good enough defending not good enough going forward

Madsen as a 10 - No and No we saw that last year and in this league does not work can't play back to goal

Bennie on his own upfront - In. a two yes, wide in a three yes, 5th choice number 9 how do we get to this point .

Another season done school report would be a C at best promising at times, very disappointing at times
