Summer transfer rumours 2026
at 15:30 5 Jul 2026

Appreciate he has previously been quite prolific and has a bit about him. However, 28 year old striker with poor injury record and barely played last season. Not sure that really fits the model.

Given the source is not exactly a good one (and ignores the other strikers we currently have on the books) I think best to mark this one as speculative at best. Looks more like an agent pushing something to get his now unemployed client a new contract.

Gallstones
at 20:46 7 Jun 2026

I remember the agony that I had before I have my gall bladder removed over 10 years ago. Never felt anything like before or since. Turned out to be 2.5cm gall stone and infected gall bladder that was contracting on it constantly.

I'll be honest and say it was only time I had bad experience with the NHS as I was referred to a consultant who didn't feel to be taking it seriously and was initially quite dismissive. I was lucky that I spoke to a member of nursing staff whilst having bloods done, she immediately said that her hubby had what sounded like identical symptoms and it was gall stones. Consultant decided that whatever I had, it probably wasnt gallstones and not serious, reluctantly he send me for a scan at my insistence. That showed the gallstone, but they weren't in a rush to see me to do anything about it. I decided enough was enough and used my BUPA for first time ever in 30 odd years (very much a backup), saw a consultant two days later, rescanned and consultant wanted to operate pretty much immediately when he saw the results as it was likely to go bad very quickly at this point.

Long story short all done within the week, key hole surgery gall bladder ad stone removed (gall bladder was septic, but fortunately not cancerous). Sore and tired for a week or so, but few small stiches healed up quickly and, touch wood, no real problems since. I do now watch my diet far more than I did, avoiding tomatoes, really spicey food and fatty/deep fried stuff as I know it will feel uncomfortable and keep away from sugary carbonated drinks, tend to find that a bit acidy. None of those things have been particularly difficult, so feel I have been very lucky. But my takeaway is that if you dont feel well and your not happy with what you are being told, do question it.

Crystal Palace

I am pleased for Palace, if nothing else for showing up the blue scum who spent many multiples of what Palace did, went through more managers and won feck all without qualifying for Europe.

Also think they did us a fair deal on the Eze transfer and developed him well. So nod to them for that too.

Otherwise hate them on principle as used to live near the ground in the 1980's and was a crap place

Saito - What Has Happened?
at 22:16 4 Apr 2026

Potentially a touch of the Madsens perhaps. Finally getting permanent move to us this year, picked up an injury not trying to get back into team after previously being more favoured. Perhaps being asked to do a different role to what he was previously doing and still trying to adapt to get it right.

Basically don't right him off yet, he is a very good player and was previously in the Japan squad and we know is well liked. I think would also do better playing with Burrel and Kone which is probably what he was originally brought in to do.

I like him, there is a good player in there (we know others were after him when we got him) and he brings something different. I wonder though if the emergence of Smyth (who was apparently also shit less than 6 months ago lest we forget!) and soon to be returning Chair may mean he is no longer required.

Heat Pumps
at 14:51 8 Mar 2026

Odd really, my experience must be very different.

Moved into new build over 12 years that has no gas on the development at all. We all have air source electric heat pumps either Mitsubishi or Daikin. Honestly its been fine. As good as any Gas Central Heating system0I have had. In and of itself is has been relatively efficient overall and pretty damn reliable after first year or two of tweaks - mainly from quality of original install rather than the actual system.

What has made the difference though is having solar and a 10 KW battery fitted just over 2 years ago. It is the package of all three that massively reduces expenditure and improves efficiency. Last year more than 40% of my total electrical use came from Solar and Battery and within that 60% of grid use, it includes topping up the battery every evening when rate is about 8.5p per KWH. Has more than halved my electricity bill in real terms before I sell any excess back to the grid (which will just about cover the daily standing charge through the summer. I added an electric car to the mix as well and that I charge about every 7 days at home on the overnight cheap rate - basically equivalent to filling up to a full tank for less than £4 each time.

So my experience is that each element in isolation will be useful, but it is the combination of heat pump, solar and battery (with car charger if that is an option) that makes the difference.

If you were Stoke you'd be looking at us thinking 3 point banker, and to be fair that is what we have been for them so many times. We kept shape, were competitive and very solid throughout, matched them for physicality, some flashes of skill here and then and lots of character and a clean sheet. Made it difficult for them to play against us and limited their chances well.

Definitely 1 point gained for us which was likely to have been lost with previous teams/managers. Happy with that outcome. Oh, ref was poor as well, which in this case was fine for us!

not quite an outrage. To be fair Kolli has been injured quite a lot and we have seen Burrell and Kone start to build a pretty effective relationship. Burrell in particular looks to be the striker we have been looking for since Austin. Kolli now has his chance to shine and hope that he can thrive with a run. Morgan is a good young player who has been asked to play in loads of different positions and gives his all when he does. Still prone to occasional brain fart but has earned his place as a squad member and is learning steadily under Stefan. Not sure he is good enough to start consistently, but just needs to keep his head down and keep developing as he is.

January transfer rumours
at 12:56 1 Jan 2026

Bit harsh LBlock.

Kelman was a success financially for us. Made a significant profit on very low outlay/investment.
Kone is successful. Big step up from League 1 and starting to now look the part for us, causing problems and creating very effective partnership with Burrell. Definitely would be sold at a profit at this point and certainly even greater chance by end of season if he can hot double figures and keep setting up Burrell.
Saito is also a good purchase and again will develop as a profitable asset.
Madsen, now settled is most improved player we have and now being noticed by other sides as a potential future option now he has added more physicality to his technical skills.

Others are now starting to settle under a new manager with very different approach to his predecessor.

All in all it definitely seems like an improving squad for first time in a while and notable too that the ones who haven't worked out have started to be moved on quickly both from 1st team and development squad, rather than hanging around forever like they did in the past.

Its not perfect, we are not consistent and there are still notable gaps in cover and quality, but overall it feels and looks better than it has done in 10 years.

An exciting group of players
at 14:36 14 Sep 2025

I think its also coaching approaches as well. Julian seems to have the new group of players confidence and is conveying well what is being looked for. You can also see during the match when the subs are coming on each time there is a clear purpose expected for each of them both in system and individual role. As the manager and team get more familiar with each other, hopefully we will have a competitive side with options. It doesnt seem like we have had that for a while, when there has been a big gap to what is available from the bench to affect games. I like it.

How did Madsen play yesterday?
at 14:30 14 Sep 2025

wow, not quite sure how you managed to suck the cloud from the silver lining.

Played as he was asked to play in a role he doesn't normally play and played it well. Kept the ball moving forwards used it intelligently and now how strikers ahead of him who can play the way we are set up to.

I think he is improving as his confidence is growing. Keeps it simple looks to be progressive, adding some more tenacity to his game which is needed in the Championship and will be new to him. Think he is also looking quite a bit sharper and fitter now.

He has played well and we won. Anything else is nonsense.
