YTS defender Matty Hughes attracted a lot of attention from top European clubs last season. With the likes of Liverpool FC and Glasgow Celtic taking him on trial with Manchester United also expressing their interest in the talented defender.

However, during the closing months of the season, all the talk of a transfer away from Spotland seemed to settle down.

But the Official Site has today confirmed that the defender has signed a three year deal with Gordan Strachan's Celtic side with a compensation package being agreed between the two clubs.

The package includes and undisclosed fee, a friendly against Celtic at some point in the future as well as Rochdale AFC having access to signing some of Celtic's younger players on loan.
