Leeds boss confirms he is trying to persuade Alex McLeish to let Leeds take Eric Lichaj again.

Simon Grayson has told the YEP that he has spoken to Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish about bringing back Eric Lichaj to ER.

The US born full-back had a successful stint at the end of last season at Leeds on-loan. The normally tight-lipped Grayson was quite open about his second approach for the young-defender, but admitted he would have to play a frustrating waiting game as Big Eck assesses his new squad following his controversial switch across Birmingham last month.

Grayson has gone to Scotland today with the squad prior to the friendlies with Falkirk on Wednesday and Motherwell next Saturday. He had hoped for a "couple" of new faces for the trip, but no doubt will be spending his time both on the phone to agents/managers and putting Leeds through their paces in their northern training camp.

It is not sure whether Leeds wish to sign Lichaj permanently or on a season long-loan. Grayson has recently spoken of his keeness on using the loan-market long-term, which has seen Arsenal's Sanchez Watt amongst others arrive at ER on long-deals.

The return of Lichaj would be welcomed by Leeds fans and would quell growing dissatisfaction amongst the ranks about our summer transfer policy, which so far has resulted in just one signing.
