Stockdale Close to Loan Move Friday, 22nd Jul 2011 00:56 by TWTD.co.uk Fulham manager Martin Jol has confirmed that Town target David Stockdale is close to a loan move, probably to a Championship club. The 25-year-old was left out of the squad as the Cottagers defeated Northern Irishmen Crusaders 4-0 in the Europa Cup last night with the Blues understood to be the favourites to sign the goalkeeper ahead of Leeds if the former Darlington man is loaned to a Championship side. Jol says Stockdale, who was first linked with Town on Thursday, is near to a move, although his destination depends on continuing discussions regarding a recall clause: "Yes, he is close, but of course there is a little issue with the recall. "We can't recall him if he is playing in the Premier League. Maybe there is a bit of space [for manoeuvre] but I don't want to talk about it. "[If we cannot insert a release clause], then we have to put him in the Championship. But there is a possibility he could go to the Premier League." Town boss Paul Jewell has been on the look-out for another keeper all summer, targeting former Coventry man Keiren Westwood prior to his switch to Sunderland.
