Kennedy becomes first Summer signing
Wednesday, 20th May 2009 19:15

The two on your left will be team mates during the 2009-10 season after it was confirmed that Jason Kennedy has signed a two year contract with Dale.

The story first started doing the rounds early on Wednesday with reports from the North East on internet messageboards and evening newspapers suggesting that Kennedy had agreed a deal with Dale.

But on Wednesday evening, the rumour mill had turned into a confirmed signing as the club announced that Keith Hill had acquired the signature of the former Middlesborough midfielder.

He joined Darlo initially on loan during their Play Off season of 2007-8, and that was made a permanent switch on the completion of the loan deal. He was an ever present in the Darlo side this past season, scoring six goals in all competitions for the North East side.

Dale fans will have mixed memories of Kennedy. Kennedy has scored two stunning goals against Dale during his time with the Quakers, in the Play Off game during 2007-8 and also in the televised League game in the season just gone. However, he'll also go down as the man who took the penalty that Tommy Lee saved to help send Dale to Wembley.
