Jewell to Make Changes for Burnley Clash

Town boss Paul Jewell says he could make changes to his side for Wednesday’s home game against Burnley with “one or two” players having lost form or shown tiredness in the last couple of matches.

Jewell says he spoke to the squad about the likelihood of changes as the Blues began the current busy month: “I said to the players at the start of March that we’ve got eight games so there will be rotation.

“Players who have played a lot of football might have a spell out. Luke Hyam can count himself really unlucky, to be honest. We’re pleased with Luke and we’re looking forward to him having a decent career at Ipswich.

“We probably need to rest one or two, but having said that players want to play. One of two have hit a little bit of a flat spot, so we might just rotate it a little bit. It won’t be a huge amount, but the odd one might just come out for a little spell.”

The Town boss says he has no new injuries ahead of the game against the Clarets, who beat the Blues 4-0 at Turf Moor earlier in the season: “We’ve got no injury news from the team that played on Saturday or the squad, so we’ve got a clean bill of health.”

Jewell says midfielder Jimmy Bullard is back in training after his two-week club suspension but won’t be in Wednesday’s squad.

Meanwhile, Burnley are hopeful that striker Jay Rodriguez, a Town target in the summer, will be over his groin problem in time to face the Blues. The injury forced Rodriguez out of Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Cardiff.
