Warnock keen on more signings after Kenny capture

Neil Warnock signed Paddy Kenny for the fourth time and revealed he wants more signings before Leeds' pre-season tour of the south West next week.

Goalkeeper Kenny, 34, agreed a three- year deal after joining Warnock for the fourth time from QPR. As well as playing under Warnock at Rangers, he served under him at Sheffield United and Bury.

Halifax-born Kenny revealed he was "delighted" to join Leeds having heard Warnock's " big plans" and revealed many of his family and friends are Leeds supporters.

Leeds seem to be under a self-imposed transfer embargo due to the uncertain future regarding the ownership of the club. Having cashed in on Adam Clayton last week, Warnock probably used those funds to end his long pursuit of Kenny.

The next incoming transfer is likely to be Portsmouth striker Luke Varney.

My reluctance to get overly excited about this deal is well documented. I cannot see how Kenny is that much better than Andy Lonergan and some rate Varney not much better than Billy Paynter!

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Post have named Bahrain Shiekh Abdulrahman bin Mubarek Al Khalifa as the mystery man behind the proposed takeover of the club.

Despite his elongated name, he should come as no stranger to United fans as he was the very same Shiekh who was linked with a buyout in 2003 as Leeds revealed debts in excess of £100m.

At the time, the Shiekh claimed to have been a Leeds fan since 1970, citing the FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea to be the defining moment when his love for our great club.

The middle-east based Gulf weekly claim the Shiekh is in Europe at the moment, heading up a consortium to buy Leeds, but complications on who exactly owns the shares not held by Ken Bates plus the ownership of Thorp Arch and Elland Road mean that the deal is anything but straightforward.

The Leeds United way!
