Bury Confirm Scowcroft Taking Role With Town Academy

Bury Town have confirmed that former Blues striker James Scowcroft has taken up a coaching role at Playford Road, as revealed by TWTD a week ago. Scowcroft had recently been appointed assistant manager at Ram Meadow but will now be replaced by former Cambridge and Luton defender Ben Chenery, who coincidentally also began his playing career as an Ipswich Town youth player.

West Suffolk boy Scowcroft, 36, hung up his boots while with Bury last season having previously played with Leicester, Crystal Palace, Coventry and Leyton Orient after leaving Town in the summer of 2001, having come through the Blues' youth system.

As reported last week, former Town coach Steve Foley has also been offered a role in the academy under returning director Bryan Klug. Former keeper Richard Wright is also believed to be weighing up whether to take on a position.
