After picking up my mate from Newport for the game, I had to put up with all the usual stick about how sh!te we are and how easily their going to turn us over. Thank Goodness for small mercies ;-)

After entering the North Bank the despair of the fans of our performances were plain to see with easily the lowest league attendance for a long while.

The game started at a furious pace considering Wycombe had given their all for 90 mins against Liverpool on Sunday in the FA Cup Semi-Final, but Wycombe took an early lead after a shot by Rammell could only be paried by Roger leaving Simpson a easy tap in with a non-existent defence.

Fair do's to the travelling support for Wycombe although only 200 made the journey they seemed to be having a carnival atmosphere in the away end, much like we used to!

Wycombe to be fair could have been further ahead before HT but failed to capitalise on a weak offside trap with Roger completing some good saves.

The Swans failed to get around Wycombe's geriatric defence and on the few occasions that Fabiano or Stu Roberts got into space the final ball was poor.

A typical example of this was just before half-time Stu had manged to enter the area on the right and only a simple cross fwould have sent Boyd in with a tap in but the ball was just far enough behind Walter that he had to back heel the ball tamely goalwards only for it to be cleared of the line.

The 2nd half didn't start any better but at around the hour mark it was clear to see that the 2 games in 2 days was starting to catch up on Wycombe.

Hollins took off Lacey and Fabiano for the very welcome return of Appleby and Romo. The biggest fun of the night was the guess the sub competition as we eagle eyed tried to work out who was coming on as we hadn't seen Richie for such a long time ;-)

The pace picked up a bit with Romo and Appleby much more effective than their previous counterparts. Savarese finally replaced Watkin who had just missed an open goal with a header that just went wide.

Then almost instantaneously the game changed. A long ball forward from Howard was collected by Boyd who played a neat one two with Romo on the halfway line setting Boyd up with a long run in and a defender in tow. He turned in the area dumbfounding the defender and cooly shot past the advancing Taylor to tie the game. A great goal which later was to be surpassed!

Wycombe's keeper Taylor who was an injury doubt prior to the game looked to have pulled a muscle upon clearing a backpass but with Wycombe already using all their subs he struggled on.

He could have done nothing to stop the second goal though as the pressure started to tell on Wycombe. A poorly cleared ball fell to Price on the outside of the box who leathered it goalwards only for it to deflect of a Wycombe defender to rocket into the top corner leaving the keeper stranded.

Wycombe were not beaten yet though an almighty goal mouth scramble with 4 clear shot on goal either cleared off the line or blocked left the Swans fans with open mouths. The siege mentality didn't last long though as Goal of the season was coming up!

Walter picked up the ball from 40 yds out and after a few strides inward he dipped a long range effort under the bar with the obviously impared keeper despairingly trying to retreat back to his goal.

At last a home win since Chrimbo, relegation is already secured but as long as the team start to show more of this passion I'm content enough!
