Swansea v Cambridge - Match Preview

SWANSEA v CAMBRIDGE - MATCH PREVIEW

Brian Flynn will be hoping that his injury hit Swans side can recapture some of their early season form with Cambridge United's visit to the Vetch on Tuesday night. After a blistering start to the season, it looks like the ever-increasing list of injuries is finally beginning to take it's toll on the Swans. With only one win in the last last four games, the Swans have still managed to cling on to third place thanks to a fortunate string of results from the teams around us.

Although the return of skipper Roberto Martinez against Kidderminster on Saturday put a smile on the faces of the Vetch Field faithful, the loss of Lee Trundle seemed to hit the Swans hard in a game which really showed up our lack of attacking options. and with Trundle out again on Tuesday night, along with James Thomas and the possible absence of Andy Robinson (foot injury) Brian Flynn seems to have a striker "crisis" on his hands. One possible option maybe the inclusion of reserve striker Mark Pritchard. The 17 year old has made a big impression this season, but we'll have to wait to see if Flynn thinks he's ready for the step up to the first team.

Another welcome return on Saturday was that of winger Brad Maylett, although he definately seemed to lack a little match fitness. Hopefully, Tuesday night will see Brad back to his best and flying down the wing. We all know that Brad can easily supply the ammunition for our front line, the only problem at the moment is that we don't seem to have one!!! Having said that, the partnership of Trundle and Nugent up front has only supplied half our goals this season, so we know that there are plenty of players in the squad capable of finding the net. Let's just hope we see a few more names on the score sheet on Tuesday night.
