What The Fans Said - FA Cup Ticketing Arrangements

jackarmy2 Posted on 17/1 18:18Email this Message | Ticketing Cock Up Part ??

When I bought my season ticket i expected to be able to get my tickets foe any big games easily!!! New people in charge, same old ticket selling cock ups. We cant even deal with our season ticket holders without causing them mass inconvenience. Q'd for over an hour and got into the match for 3.30. It is a shambles. When buying your ticket the woman had to walk all the way to the back of the shop and then come back to give out the ticket. Common sense tells you to have the tickets near you to save time. And only 2 people serving. No wonder it took so long!!! This ticketing situation is once again handled very, very badly!!!

I would disagree in part. Tickets should be kept out the back because of the layout of the place. Keep them in the front it isn't difficult to grab them and make sharp an exit. Unlikely I know but security and all that. Personally I think we should look at seperate queues for stand and terrace tickets. Looking for the right stand ticket slows the process down. As for getting in late to the game - I hate to say this but people were warned to get there early today. Not saying this was your fault but the statements were made?

You would think they would sell some tickets at the gates and it will be a bit easier for the staff at the club shop

Got to agree on this one the whole set up is an absolute joke. To put the tickets in the back office is a stupid idea, and I'm sorry Phil, I don't go along with the security one, for a number of reasons A) They could be against the back wall or under the counter out of arms reach B) There is someone on the door. C) There is plenty of other merchandise that's easy to get your hands on. D) The tickets are all numbered any stolen tickets would be easily traceable. This morning there were 2 people dealing with tickets and 3 selling programmes and merchandise, when I walked past this afternoon at 1.30 the queue was huge, and not moving. Why haven't we got a ticket office? Why can't we use the turnstiles to sell tickets, from 1-30 untill 2-30 say. To treat season ticket holders in this way is just appaling. Two of my mates who both look after kids in the morning before the Wives come home from work quite simply can't get down there any earlier, so to say you should have been there earlier is a little too simplistic I'm sorry. Why aren't tickets for season ticket holders on sale tommorrow? This situation has gone on for years, I was employed by the club myself during the Hollins era, and the same probles existed then, and we still haven't dealt with them. Remember in the world of business, without customers you have no business and also ther can be no room for sentiment,(ie individuals still employed by the club, who aren't proffessional enough to deal with such demanding days)

Didnt we used to have a seperate ticket office near the main stand i think it was, back to when we played WBA in the Div 2 playoffs years back, it could have been useful in this situation. Steve

TO BE HONEST , IM FED UP WITH HEARING ALL ABOUT YOU HARD UP SEASON TICKET HOLDERS , IF YOU WANT A TICKET THEN YOU HAVE TO GET THERE EARLY AND QUEUE FOR IT , STOP MOANING , AT LEAST YOU HAVE THE CHOICE OF GETTING YOURS EARLY , WHAT ABOUT US MUMS WHO CANT AFFORD TO BUY SEASON TICKETS FOR THE EAST STAND AND HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TUESDAY TO BUY OURS , HOPEFULLY THEY HAVNT ALL GONE, AND WE DONT HAVE TO TELL OUR KIDS , SORRY BUT THEY ARE SOLD OUT , I WILL BE AT THE SHOP FIRST THING ON TUESDAY MORNING AND I DONT CARE IF I HAVE TO QUEUE ALL DAY COS I AM A TRUE FAN , SO STOP MOANING SEASON TICKET HOLDERS AND JUST GET ON WITH IT ,

Wow, hang on a minute, I save for 12mths for my season ticket. Without season ticket holders you haven't got a football club, what other income do we generate during the summer months, 2000+ season tickets at £200 each makes sure we have a club to watch at the begining of every season. My point wasn't just about season ticket holders it was about the way all fans are let down with a lack of customer service! And by the way most people can't queue all day on Tuesday or any other day for that matter as they have to earn a days wage, but neither should they have to.

WELL I UNDERSTAND PEOPLE HAVE TO WORK AND SO DOES MY HUBBY , I WISH I COULD BUT I HAVE TO FERRY MY SON TO SCHOOL AND HOME EVERY DAY .I DO AGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING ABOUT STAFF PROBLEMS AT THE SHOP BUT PLEASE , ALL I WAS SAYING IS HOW UNFAIR IT WOULD BE IF I WAS TO GO THERE ON TUESDAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE SOLD OUT , I WISH I COULD BUY A ST BUT IT WOULD COST ME A FORTUNE FOR MY FAMILY . MAYBE WHAT THEY SHOUD HAVE DONE IS TO SELL ON FRIDAY AND SAT TO S TICKET HOLDERS AND TRUST MEMBERS THE SAME TIME , AND TO THE PUBLIC ON MON , IT WOULD GIVE US MORE TIME TO GET TICKETS . AS ITS NOT AN ALL TICKET GAME I WONDER WHAT ALL THE FUSS IS ABOUT , MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST SAID IT IS ALL TICKET , COS I DONT THINK ANYONE WILL GET IN ON THE DAY WITHOUT ONE DO YOU?

Exactly, well said, It's not even an all ticket game so what's the fuss about. If you think you're going to walk into the shop at 2.30 and buy a ticket on a match day without a fuss you're living in cloud cuckoo land. The tickets are on sale to season ticket holders from Friday to Monday and you have to choose 2.30. My point is: I was in the ground at 2.30 I bought my ticket at 10.30 this morning I drove down from Chester like I do for every other home game I know how the shop works and what the problems have been like for cup games in the past. It's not ideal I know but we all know that if you really want a ticket without fuss all you have to do is get up early and get one. Some of you people just want everything handed to you on a plate.... Life is so tough isn't it? LMAO

I am a season ticket holder on the north bank and waited for about 45 mins on thursday to get some tickets, the shop was due to close at 16.30 and I just managed to get inside at this time and there where still about 60 people behind me outside. This game must be made all ticket as those people who are not season ticket holders or trust members or can't get down to the club shop or be bothered to go down to get tickets in advance will be waiting to pay their money to get in when the turnstiles open on saturday. Those with tickets turn up in good time and are told the north bank is full go around to the east terrace. This happened to me last season when we played Exeter City, I had bought my ticket well in advance and got there at about 14.30 only to be told that the north bank was full. If they do not make the game all ticket then THE BOARD MUST ENSURE THAT all those who have bought tickets in advance stand in the area that theyhaveticket for i.e Lets say the capacity of the North Bank is 5000 and the club have sold 4000 tickets in advance then common sense says that only 1000 people paying on the day should be allowed in.It's time for the club to wake up and operate much better on and off the field as many more games like yesterday and we will still be in division 3 come the time of the big move to Whit Rock.

The reason why it isnt all ticket is because any unsold tickets cant go on gerneral sale on the day of the match, but as it isnt an all ticket match, any tickets left can be sold on sat.

jackson5 Posted on 18/1 11:36Email this Message | Club shop and tickets- An absolute disgrace.

After queuing for an hour yesterday for a ticket for the preston game and missing the start of the game I have to post about the disgraceful and amateur way the club shop is run. We are attracting crowds as big as some first division sides and yet the club seems to b a non league operation. 1. Do they not realise that some people actually have jobs? They were moaning about the queues yesterday and saying that tickets for season ticket holders can still be bought on monday between 10 and 4. er sorry but some of us work for a living. How about staying open a little later? how about a couple of hours on a sunday? This does not have to b permanent but would it har with a big game coming up? 2. Why the hell do they keep the tickets in a different room to the serving counter? This meant that they have to walk from one room to the other and back again for every customer. Why can't they keep the tickets under the counter? 3. After queueing an hour with other season ticket holders, to be told at 2.55 when I was still probably fifty peolple back, that they were going to close at 3 and that our wait was for nothing, I found absolutely disgusting. the only reason they did stay open was because of the huge ammount of protests and the fact they couldnt physically close the door. We are people who have paid money and made a pledge to the club, is that what we get in return? 4. Lastly, why the hell couldn.t they have had cup tickets at the turnstyles and then as u handed over your season tickets, you could have been asked whether u wanted your cup ticket and paid for it. Everyone in the queue was suggesting this. Why hadn't it occured to the club? There are so many other problems with the shop and ticketing this post would be twelve pages long! NO COMPUTER SYSTEM!! Can u believe that season ticket holders names and addresses are kept in a book and not on a database???? I hope nobody steals that book or there is a fire cos the club will b in s t street. Amateur and a disgrace. It must be sorted out.

AGREE TOTALLY. I came down on my bike for the first game of the season.lovely run down blasting thro the hills and meadows of mid wales..got to the ticket office to get shirt. felt like I was in the way somehow and then told theyd all gone.I then said ok can i order them and you can mail them to me. Then replied "we dont do mail order" To top it all when I got back to the bike(parked outside some cnut had stolen my ray bans that I left on the handlebars. true, that shop staff need a training course

The mail order thing links to the lack of a computer system mate. Maybe in about fifty years they might get wind of something called the internet! Amazing what it can do!! Tickets, merchandise etc

Bolox. Just wrote a superb thesis on the problems with the clubshop, however Rivals obviously deemed it not worthy of upload. It'd be nice if they joined the 20th century - how they haven't computerised operations (e.g. season tickets allwritten in a book by hand), or facilitated online sales (merchandise and ticket sales) is beyond me. Minimal cost for a whole lot of benefit. Oh, and if they had change once in a while, that would be nice.

Fortunately I was able to go there early yesterday morning to collect my ticket, but totally agree that not everyone has that opportunity. The attitude of the people there is abysmal, why are the fans treated so discourtiously and as if we are a complete annoyance to them? A job lot of personality transplants would ease the situation somewhat, alternatively new staff would be even better. Also why on earth doesn't a professional Club in the Football League have a computer system installed? The twenty-first century hasn't arrived at our Club Shop!!

also, was it necessary to wait for the reading v preston replay b4 putting the tickets on sale. It was obvious after over 8,000 turned up for the macclesfield game that the 9000 or so home spaces would be filled. Just because the club said to get there early for your tickets doesnt excuse the shambles!!
